With nearly a century of experience, Sypris Technologies continues to set the standard in engineering excellence and reliability in the pipeline sector.Role DescriptionSypris Technologies Inc. is seeking a Buyer / Planner I for a full-time, on-site position in our Louisville, KY manufacturing plant. The Buyer / Planner I will be responsible for managing purchase orders, sourcing materials, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring on-time delivery of products and services. Additional responsibilities may include maintaining inventory levels, optimizing sourcing processes, analyzing procurement data, and collaborating with production and operations teams to meet business and customer requirements. This role is critical to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effective procurement strategies.Key Responsibilities:Procurement & PO Management: Execute and manage purchase orders for productions materials, ensuring accuracy in pricing, quantities, and specifications.Supplier Relations: Act as the primary point of contact for vendors; negotiate lead times, resolve delivery discrepancies, and provide status updates to leadership.Expediting & Tracking: Proactively track open Purchase Orders and mitigate risks for late shipments to prevent production downtime.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Production, Planning, and Warehouse teams to synchronize material flow with the master production schedule.Data Integrity: Maintain “clean” data within the ERP system (Plex), ensuring supplier records, lead times, and pricing stay current.Operational Support: Assist in the creation and organization of production Job Packets and provide backup support for Senior Buyers and MRO procurement as needed.Perform other duties as assigned to support Company goals.Required Skills:Detail- Oriented Mindset: You catch small errors in a PO before they become big problems on the production floor.Communication: Ability to be firm but professional with vendors and clear and concise with internal stakeholders.Tech Savvy: Comfortable navigating ERP systems and proficient in Microsoft Excel (ability to sort, filter, and analyze data sets).Problem- Solving: A “can-do” attitude when faced with supply chain bottlenecks or shipping delays.Multitasker: Able to juggle multiple tasks without losing focus and dropping the ball.Team Player: You'll be required to effectively work with multiple co-workers in multiple departments to accomplish tasks.Preferred Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Experience: Previous internships or 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment.System Knowledge: Exposure to Plex ERP or similar MRP systems.Lean Thinking: A basic understanding of Lean Principles (5S, Kaizen) and Supply Chain KPIs (On-Time Delivery, Cycle Time).The Ideal Candidate:You are a high-energy professional who is curious by nature.
