duties, and responsibilities include:\r\nExpedites emergency plumbing work, and ensures the delivery of rapid response to urgent issues.\r\nPerforms comprehensive repairs and replacements of boilers, pumps, and other plumbing components.\r\nAssists in planning and inspecting new construction projects.\r\nInstalls and replaces laboratory equipment, as well as repair laundry and kitchen equipment.\r\nConducts preventative maintenance and regular checks on all District plumbing systems.\r\nMaintains and repairs lift stations, and ensures all drains remain clear and functional.\r\nPerforms periodic checks and necessary repairs on gas systems and lift stations, as mandated by law.\r\nPerforms welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks related to plumbing, when necessary.\r\nInitiates purchases of supplies for assigned equipment, and maintains accurate inventory.\r\nCatalogs information regarding District plumbing equipment in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures.\r\nCompletes work tickets detailing hours worked, job costs, and associated information.\r\nProvides supervisory oversight on projects requiring crews, as directed.\r\nPerforms regular assessments of plumbing systems to identify areas for efficiency improvements and potential upgrades.\r\nProvides training and mentorship to apprentice plumbers on best practices, techniques, and safety procedures.\r\nOffers technical support to other technicians and departments within the District on complex plumbing issues.\r\nCollaborates with other maintenance teams to coordinate services and support multidisciplinary projects.\r\nParticipates in, and promotes, recycling and other sustainability initiatives, as directed.\r\nAssists, as directed, in identifying opportunities for waste reduction, and the optimization of environmental outcomes in daily operations.\r\nParticipates in special projects, as assigned.\r\nPerforms all assigned work activities in accordance with standard procedures and protocols established by the department and District, and in accordance with applicable standards, procedures, protocols, practices, codes, and requirements as set forth by regulations and governing entities including, without limitation, Texas Education Agency, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regarding work and electrical safety standards and regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations related to the safe disposal of waste, management of hazardous materials, and water quality standards, building and
