Position SummaryThe Director of Artificial Intelligence is responsible for defining, governing, and scaling the enterprise AI strategy across internal operations and client-facing managed services. This role ensures AI is adopted responsibly, securely, and pragmatically—driving productivity, automation maturity, and new revenue opportunities while protecting data, compliance, and client trust.The AI Director serves as a strategic leader bridging technology, data, security, service delivery, and business leadership, translating AI capabilities (including Microsoft Copilot, automation, and advanced AI solutions) into measurable business outcomes for both the organization and its clients. This role aligns with an AI journey framework focused on policy, productivity, native SaaS enablement, data governance, and advanced development.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesAI Strategy & GovernanceDefine and own the enterprise AI strategy and roadmap, aligned with business objectives and client needs.Establish AI governance frameworks, acceptable use policies, and guardrails to prevent AI sprawl, data exposure, and misuse.Partner with Security, Legal, and Compliance to ensure ethical, compliant, and secure AI adoption.Serve as the internal authority on responsible AI usage and risk management.Internal AI Enablement & ProductivityLead AI enablement initiatives to improve internal productivity, operational efficiency, and decision-making.Oversee adoption and optimization of Microsoft Copilot and AI capabilities embedded within core platforms.Identify and automate high-friction, manual workflows across departments using AI-driven solutions.Educate leaders and employees on safe, effective AI use and best practices.Client-Facing AI Solutions & ServicesDevelop AI-related service offerings and advisory frameworks for mid-market clients.Partner with Sales, BI, DevOps, and Service Delivery teams to position AI as a value-driven capability.Support client AI readiness assessments, data maturity evaluations, and roadmap development.Act as an escalation point and advisor for complex AI initiatives and client engagements.Data, Automation & Advanced AI DevelopmentPartner with BI, Data, and DevOps leaders to ensure data readiness and architecture support AI initiatives.Guide the evolution from basic automation to agentic and autonomous AI solutions where appropriate.Evaluate build vs. buy decisions for AI tools, platforms, and vendors.Ensure AI solutions deliver measurable ROI and operational impact.Leadership & Cross-Functional CollaborationServe as a thought leader internally and externally on AI trends, use cases, and governance.Collaborate with executive leadership to align AI investments with overall business strategy.Support talent development, upskilling, and future-state AI capability planning.Contribute to the organization’s innovation roadmap and market differentiation.Education, Experience & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Technology, Data, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).8–12+ years of progressive experience across AI, data, automation, or advanced analytics.Prior experience in a Director-level or senior leadership role strongly preferred.Experience in MSP, consulting, or mid-market enterprise environments highly preferred.Strong understanding of AI governance, enterprise data, automation, and the Microsoft AI ecosystem.Ability to translate complex AI concepts into clear business value.
