Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital of Augusta.\nJob Purpose: Correctly code healthcare claims to obtain reimbursement from insurance companies and/or government healthcare programs.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nMaintain working knowledge of regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures for all insurance companies and multiple states that pertain to billing physician and mid-level CPT codes.\nMaintain working knowledge of hospital systems in order to gather patient information.\nAnalyze patient’s charts carefully to know the diagnosis and assign specific ICD-10 codes to the claims.\nAbility to use CPT codes to code surgeries.\nEnter outpatient/impatient charges into the system.\nResearch coding related issues.\nComply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.\nParticipate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nProvide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.\nParticipate in education sessions specific to corporate needs or job duties – locally or remotely, as needed.\nMaintain confidentiality of sensitive information.\nParticipate in all mandatory trainings relating to applicable healthcare laws and regulations, and demonstrate full compliance with those regulations, including without limitation, HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, Federal, State and local laws and regulations.\nRequirements\nEducation: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)\nPreferred: Certification from college or technical school\nExperience: One to three years related experience and/or training. Must include CPT & ICD Coding.
