Apply now to become part of the PSC family!\n\nJob Duties & Responsibilities:\n\nAnalyze process samples and final products per standard operating procedures in a timely manner to accommodate the needs of the refinery.\nVerify all data before reporting information to verify quality and ensure compliance with product specifications, test method standards, and regulations\nCoordinate sample testing with other technicians to improve turnaround time for reporting all data.\nPrioritize work based on the needs of the refinery.\nPerform special testing projects, i.e. round robins, bench blends, etc. on an as-needed basis\nDeliver routine supplies to, and gather collected samples from, process units in a timely manner to provide efficient turnaround of results.\nEnsure functionality of equipment by checking instrument and standard specific statistical quality control charts and perform periodic calibration and maintenance.\nObserve expiration dates, low reagent volumes, gas cylinder pressures, etc. to ensure adequate consumables and resources are available for all testing.\nPerform routine maintenance and troubleshooting for instrumentation to achieve maximum equipment availability.\nMaintain and update laboratory supply inventory to ensure continuity and safety of work.\nCommunicate to relief all relevant information about the refinery, i.e. unit specifications and upsets, off-spec results, samples in progress and instrument problems, etc.\nReview electronic shift log at start of shift and sign-off at end of shift by adding pertinent information.\nRecord test information into logbooks, verify electronically transferred data or enter results into SampleManager (LIMS) and approve Certificates of Analysis (C of A’s), as required.\nReport missing samples, problems, environmental concerns and off-spec results (when needed) to appropriate complex operators and/or Supervisor.\nReceive and conduct on-the-job training (OJT) to perform analytical techniques and methods for improving lab capability.\nMaintain corporate standards by completing computer-based training (CBT).\nImprove proficiency by reading analytical methods, adopting procedural updates, and reviewing instrument manuals and technical journals to meet personal, team and company objectives.\nParticipate in relevant training events to increase personal development.\nMaintain a clean and organized work environment to promote health, safety, and work efficiency in the lab.\nPlace hazardous material in proper waste containers and store all retained samples according to Basic Practice procedures.\nTransfer hazardous waste and empty solvent and reference fuel drums to the warehouse for proper disposal.\nQualifications: A 4-year science degree with four college chemistry courses and two college chemistry labs is required\nComputer proficiency with standard desktop applications, e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook is required.\nJob Qualifications:\n\nExperience is a plus but not required, and paid on-the-job training is available\nMay require a valid Driver’s License and / or a valid TWIC card, depending on work location\n18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.\nPass a drug screen, physical, and background check\nWear all required PPE without restriction and pass any required medical exams\nSpeak, write, read fluent English\nRegular on-site attendance and punctuality is required\nPrevious military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus\nWork Schedule:\n8 - 12 Hour Day Shift (Some weekends required)\n\nWhy join the PSC team?\n\nSince 1952, PSC Group has had a strong reputation for quality service, safety, environmental protection, and taking care of our employees.\nWe are a leader in product handling and site logistics for refineries, chemical producers, and marine transportation providers.\nThe work we do makes a huge impact in our nation's economy.
