These roles will lead the pursuit, design, and delivery of complex bridge projects, with responsibilities spanning client development, multidisciplinary team leadership, and project execution from proposal through construction. Both roles offer a flexible work environment and require candidates to be based within or near their respective regions, with occasional travel to support client and project needs.\nResponsibilities\nLead and deliver bridge and structural engineering projects from pursuit through construction, including proposal development (scope, schedule, budget) and client interviews\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, agency partners, and teaming consultants across Northern and Central California\nManage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with civil, survey, environmental, and construction stakeholders\nOversee and mentor engineers in the preparation of PS&E packages, technical studies, reports, calculations, and supporting documentation\nPerform and review bridge analysis and design using bridge‑specific finite element and section analysis software\nEnsure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including AASHTO LRFD and seismic design requirements\nProvide construction support services, including site visits, responding to RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings and submittals\nLead bridge inspection and preventative maintenance projects, as applicable\nEffectively communicate complex technical concepts in writing and verbally, representing the firm with professionalism\nManage project schedules, budgets, workload, and performance metrics across multiple concurrent assignments\nRequirements\nB.S. in Civil Engineering is required, and M.S. in Structural Engineering is preferred\nCalifornia Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required\n12+ years of progressive experience in bridge and structural design and project management\nStrong understanding of bridge design codes, seismic principles, and construction practices\nProven success in leading teams, client management, and deliver complex capital projects\nPhysical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.\nWork Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.\nBenefits\nThe typical base salary range for this position is $140,000.00 - $205,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
