This role requires technical skills and the ability to work independently. The Industrial Engine Technician reports directly to the Industrial Engine Sales Manager and plays a key role in meeting production and delivery schedules for our industrial engine customers.Skills and Background Required:High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology or related field preferredPrior experience (2+ years) working with diesel engines or similar heavy equipmentStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals and assembly instructionsExperience with basic hand and power toolsUnderstanding of safety practices and procedures in a shop environmentExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and manage time effectivelyStrong communication skills for collaborating with team members and supporting customersBasic computer skills for order tracking and documentationValid driver’s license (may be required for parts delivery or field service)Valid forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain certification before operating forklifts on-siteJob DutiesRead and interpret technical information and specificationsAssemble, prepare, test, and inspect new engine packages for consistent quality prior to deliveryManage engine and parts inventory, ensuring timely receipt and shipment of all ordersOperate a forklift to load/unload parts and maintain an organized, safe shop environmentCommunicate effectively, demonstrate reliability, and work independently or as part of a team, including overtime or weekend hours as neededThompson Machinery offers competitive salaries and a complete benefits package.Compensation for this position will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and background.Thompson Machinery is an equal opportunity employer: Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled.Listing is current as of May 20, 2026 09:45 AM
