Qualifications Master's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university; Valid certification in the field of deaf education preferred; Valid Texas certification as a school administrator or principal; Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in the field of deaf education preferred; Knowledge and skills in deaf education programming using sign language and listening/spoken language; Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable; and Visionary leadership in public schools to work with diverse students, faculties, families, and communities of the 21st century.Terms Of EmploymentProbationary/Term Contract: 210 daysSalary$77,896 (IA 6)Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school yearEssential FunctionsAdhere to all conditions of the NWHCC Shared Service Arrangement. Interpret the objectives and programs of deaf education for the board of education, the administrative organization, the various staffs, and the various publics at large within the Northwest Harris County Cooperative for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.Coordinate and conduct Cooperative Management Board meetings a minimum of twice annually. Make programming recommendations to the Board including policies and programs essential to the needs of children with auditory impairment.Develop budget recommendations for the Cooperative.Maintain PEIMS for all students served in the Cooperative.Attend and participate in all required district level meetings in the fiscal LEA.Facilitate challenging IEP meetings to provide knowledge and expertise in special education law and deafness to support campus administrators.Establish procedures to process and place eligible students in programming for students with auditory impairments – from admission to dismissal.Coordinate recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring of deaf education personnel.Assist campus administration in supervision of the professional and paraprofessional staff of the Cooperative.Assist in evaluating personnel serving in the deaf education program and making recommendations for continued employment.Organize and plan pre-service and in-service training for staff within the Cooperative.Provide support and assistance in scheduling for students with auditory impairments.Conduct meetings to inform deaf education staff of initiatives, assessment, or any other critical information related to deaf education.Facilitate implementation of curriculum and programming with staff for students in the NWHCC.Evaluate, recommend and approve all materials and supplies necessary to support student success.Assume responsibility for compiling and maintaining records and reports which are legally required or administratively useful.Develop and facilitate committees that are deemed necessary to create new guidelines, policies, and/or procedures for the Cooperative.Participate in the Region IV Advisory Committee.Participate as administrator and/or advise campuses in multicampus IEP meetings.Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Support Services or Director of Special Education.Working ConditionsMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasionalreachingLifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)Environment: Frequent districtwide travelMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stressDeadline To ApplyMay 8, 2026Applications will be reviewedNot all applicants will be interviewedHiring Managers may choose to email you regarding this application.
