Your duties will include designing, developing, prototyping, and testing mechanical components of products and systems. You should be well‑versed in complex mechanical or electronic systems and possess excellent problem‑solving abilities as well as a creative approach to your tasks. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position.\n\nThis position reports to the Director of Engineering.\n\nDuties and Responsibilities\n\nOrganize a full lifecycle product development, including design, development, test prototypes, manufacturing, and implementation\n\nDevelop systems and components that meet customer needs and regulatory requirements. Prepare outline designs.\n\nOrganize experiments methodically, analyze data and interpret results\n\nConduct tests and evaluate theoretical designs\n\nResearch and produce effective solutions to emerging problems\n\nReview the final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety\n\nImprove design to meet requirements and eliminate malfunctions\n\nHelp create product reports, product, documentation, end‑user documentation, and sales literature\n\nStay informed about new theories or methods\n\nQualifications & Competencies\n\nBS Mechanical Engineering\n\n0‑3 years’ experience working as a Mechanical Engineer or in other relevant position\n\nExperience in solid modeling, preferably SolidWorks\n\nExperience in ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) preferred\n\nExperience with product lifecycle management (PLM), preferably Arena\n\nWorking knowledge of DFSS, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Design of Experiments (DOE) preferred\n\nExcellent knowledge of core concepts and principles of mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, etc.\n\nStrong creativity and analytical skills\n\nStrong communication and technical writing skills\n\nWorking Conditions\n\nDaily job duties will consist of office, lab, and desk work with occasional field testing required.\n\nCandidates may be required to work underground, but on an infrequent basis.\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to work near large moving machinery, but on an infrequent basis.\n\nCustomer operations may contain airborne particles and allergens.\n\nMatrix employees may be furnished and required to wear safety gear such as hard hats, steel toe shoes, reflective clothing, earplugs, and safety glasses as needed.\n\nOccasional travel and ability to work various shifts as required by customer.\n\nPhysical Requirements\nThe employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, or crouch. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.\n\nPhysical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
