Job Description
MITRE’s extensive engagements span hundreds of projects and collaborations with industry and academia to develop and apply novel techniques for effective and predictable systems of systems. Our challenge is to harness rapid technological advances across transportation, aerospace, cyber, AI, mechanical, defense, and health domains to solve complex problems at scale.
As a recent graduate working in systems engineering, you will collaborate with a team to apply your knowledge and gain experience with one or more of the following areas:
Digital and model‑based engineering
System architecting
Requirements engineering
Mission and system of systems engineering
AI‑enabled systems engineering
Agile systems engineering
Systems security engineering
Mechanical engineering, structural analysis, thermal dynamics
Aerospace engineering
Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA)
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related program
Knowledge of systems, mechanical, or aerospace engineering theory
Sustained excellence in academic performance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience applying systems, aerospace, or mechanical engineering in an internship or research/lab position
Experience with Systems Engineering tools such as MagicDraw, Cameo Enterprise Architecture, Rhapsody, Stella, iThink, Anylogic, Systemitool, or relevant design tools
Proven ability to work independently to learn new systems, mechanical, or aerospace engineering technologies, techniques, processes, languages, and best practices
Experience with SysML and/or UML
Experience with Digital Engineering
Experience with Model‑based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Science & Technology (S&T) capability assessments, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives
Experience with prototype design
CAD proficiency
Demonstrated interest in serving the public
Security Clearance
The selected candidate must achieve, within one year of hire, a U.S. Government security clearance. This includes U.S. citizenship and compliance with Department of Defense adjudicative guidelines. Other positions may require vetting for various agency public trust, fitness, suitability, or special program access.
Compensation and Work Location
Salary: $75,000 – $93,500 – $112,000 annually. Work Location: Hybrid.
