Cross Country Coach

Athletic Coach (High School Athletics) The Athletic Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and educational athletic program that supports student-athlete growth, sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and academic success. Coaches are expected to provide a safe, structured, and positive environment while representing The Foundation for Hispanic Education (TFHE) and its charter high schools with professionalism and integrity. This position may support any sport offered within the TFHE high school athletic programs. Primary ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and supervise practices, competitions, and team activitiesCoach and instruct student-athletes in sport-specific skills, strategies, conditioning, and teamworkPromote good sportsmanship, character development, accountability, and educational valuesMaintain a safe and positive environment for all student-athletesSupervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team eventsCoordinate practice schedules and communicate schedule changes in a timely mannerAssist with transportation coordination to and from athletic eventsDistribute, inventory, and collect uniforms, equipment, and program gearMaintain consistent communication with the Athletic Director, school staff, student-athletes, and familiesAttend required meetings, trainings, preseason and postseason meetings, and athletic department eventsSupport compliance with school, league, CIF, and state athletic policies and proceduresMonitor student-athlete eligibility, attendance, behavior, and academic progress as requiredServe as a positive role model and representative of TFHE and its schools QualificationsKnowledge of coaching principles, techniques, and skill development for high school student-athletesPrevious coaching and/or playing experience at the high school level or above preferredAbility to effectively motivate, mentor, and supervise studentsStrong leadership, communication, organization, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work collaboratively with students, families, staff, and administrationAbility to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environmentCommitment to equity, inclusion, and student developmentTeaching credential or educator experience preferred but not requiredValid First Aid and CPR certification required (American Red Cross or equivalent)Completion of required NFHS online trainingsValid California driver's license preferred Working ConditionsEvening and weekend availability required during athletic seasonsAbility to work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to stand, walk, lift, and actively participate in athletic activities for extended periods Schedule This is a temporary seasonal position operating on a 1099 contract basis. Work schedules will vary depending on the sport season, practice schedules, and competition calendar.
