Together, we advance your career.\r\nTHE ROLE\r\nAMD's Server BU is looking for an experienced Lead System Firmware Engineer to lead, debug and integrate firmware solutions for components in Server BU product line like EPYC SP7, SP5 family. The engineer will lead planning, scoping, FW definition, integration, release and support resolving complex technical issues in the Server firmware stack. Expect high intensity daily triaging and rapid communication of status in cross component debug engagements.\r\nTHE PERSON\r\nYou are passionate about firmware debug and triaging with creative and effective problem-solving skills, a motivated, self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively in fast paced environments. The successful candidate will have a strong background on structure problem-solving and debug skills to support cross engineering team within AMD. You have excellent technical communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.\r\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\r\n\r\nServe as the Lead Engineer for the design, development, debugging, verification, and validation of firmware and its interaction with software, and/or hardware components\r\nSupport both pre-silicon and post-silicon bring-up efforts, collaborating closely with firmware, BIOS, and silicon teams to enable new features\r\nFacilitate and drive technical discussions to resolve complex engineering issues and advance project initiatives\r\nDevelop, maintain, and communicate firmware design documentation, specifications, and implementation notes\r\nParticipate in system architecture reviews and support firmware requirements analysis\r\nMentor and provide technical guidance to engineering team members, fostering best practices and high-quality design standards\r\nProvide consultation to internal and external customers regarding AMD features and programming requirements\r\n\r\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE\r\n\r\nExtensive related Server firmware experience, Operating System interface (ACPI) with combined with technical education within the semiconductor industry\r\nProven ability to lead platform-level debug efforts to identify root causes and drive resolution of issues\r\nHands-on experience debugging Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability (RAS) features.\r\nStrong proficiency in embedded firmware development and hardware/software interface integration.\r\nExperience with Machine Check Architecture (MCA) and Machine Check Exception (MCE) validation and debugging.\r\nSolid foundation in computer architecture, including memory interleaving, system memory maps, and NUMA domain concepts.\r\n\r\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS\r\n\r\nBachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent\r\n\r\nLocation\r\n\r\nAustin, TX\r\n\r\nThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.\r\nLI-JE1\r\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\r\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
