Mainframe Developer

Roles & ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain mainframe applications to support critical business operationsEnhance existing applications and perform maintenance and defect fixes across environmentsDevelop and maintain JCL scripts for batch processing and ensure timely executionMonitor, troubleshoot, and support batch and online job processingConduct impact analysis for code changes and system enhancementsParticipate in testing cycles, ensuring all deliverables meet functional and technical requirementsDebug and resolve issues across development, testing, and production environmentsMaintain and update technical documentation, including program logic and job workflowsCollaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutionsSupport production releases, including deployment and post-release stabilizationFollow change management, release management, and incident management processesEnsure adherence to coding standards, quality benchmarks, and compliance requirementsParticipate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvementProvide knowledge transfer and mentoring to junior team membersSupport modernization or migration initiatives as neededRequired Technical & Functional SkillsStrong hands-on experience with COBOL, JCL, and mainframe utilitiesProven ability to design, develop, enhance, and support mainframe applicationsExperience with batch processing, scheduling, and job controlSolid understanding of online and batch program development and supportAbility to analyze existing systems and perform impact analysis for enhancements and fixesExperience in debugging and resolving production and non-production issuesKnowledge of restart/recovery processes and job failure handlingFamiliarity with testing methodologies (unit, system, and UAT support)Understanding of performance, reliability, and security standards in enterprise systemsExperience working in Agile or hybrid Agile-Waterfall environments
