This role focuses on designing, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining MUMPS routines and related VistA functionality in support of pharmacy and clinical system workflows. The Senior MUMPS Developer works with technical and functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, maintainable software updates for mission-critical Federal healthcare systems.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDesign, develop, modify, test, and maintain MUMPS routines supporting VistA-based applications.\nAnalyze software requirements, defects, and user-reported issues to determine appropriate MUMPS code changes.\nTroubleshoot application behavior, data issues, workflow problems, and production or test environment defects.\nDevelop clean, maintainable code that supports system reliability, performance, and long-term sustainment.\nSupport unit testing, regression testing, defect resolution, and validation of software changes.\nCollaborate with developers, testers, analysts, pharmacy informatics stakeholders, and Government customers to clarify requirements and resolve issues.\nPrepare and maintain technical documentation, release notes, implementation notes, and related support materials.\nFollow established development, configuration management, code review, security, and release support processes.\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:\n5+ years of hands-on MUMPS development experience.\nExperience designing, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting MUMPS routines in an enterprise application environment.\nExperience supporting VistA or other MUMPS-based healthcare information systems.\nAbility to analyze existing code, identify defects, implement fixes, and validate software changes.\nUnderstanding of Agile SDLC practices, requirements analysis, testing, defect resolution, and release support.\nExperience working with code repositories, issue tracking, and configuration management processes.\nAbility to create clear technical documentation for code changes, troubleshooting steps, and implementation support.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:\nExperience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs, is a plus.\nExperience supporting VA VistA, VistA Pharmacy, Outpatient Pharmacy, PRE Inbound ePrescribing, Meds-by-Mail, or related VA healthcare systems.\nExperience with VistA patch support, national release activities, or sustainment support.\nFamiliarity with pharmacy workflows, prescription processing, electronic prescribing, or healthcare transaction concepts.\nUnderstanding of Federal healthcare information security, privacy, PHI/PII protection, and VA compliance expectations.\nPrior experience working with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy informatics personnel, or clinical operations stakeholders.\nEDUCATION:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.\nCLEARANCE:\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.\nWORK LOCATION:\nRemote\nAs part of the application process, you are expected to be on camera during interviews and assessments.
