OH0713 NW Bancshares HQJob DescriptionA senior credit leader for the SBA portfolio, responsible for complex underwriting and portfolio management across 7(a) and related SBA products. Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on SBA eligibility, structure, and servicing; leads risk governance and trains/mentors the team. Partners closely with Relationship Managers (RMs), Credit Risk, Legal, and Special Assets to deliver strong customer outcomes while protecting the SBA guaranty.Essential Functions* Advanced portfolio oversight: Owns monitoring cadence for a complex book, including covenant tracking, annual reviews, criticized asset reviews, early‐warning indicators, and risk‐rating validation; ensures policy/SOP alignment and timely remediation* SBA expert underwriting & approvals: Structures, underwrites, and recommends/approves complex small‐business credit actions (e.g., business acquisitions, partner buyouts, real estate with EPC/OC structures, CAPLines, partial changes of ownership) consistent with SBA SOP and bank policy; prepares executive‐ready credit memos* Regulatory & guaranty integrity: Ensures accurate and timely SBA communications and monthly reporting (e.g., 1502); drives file quality and documentation readiness pre‐exam/audit; leads guaranty‐risk mitigation to prevent repairs/denials* Servicing leadership: Designs risk strategies for complex actions (mods, deferments, liquidations, Purchase Demand Packages, Offers in Compromise, reinstatements, charge‐off requests) in partnership with Legal/Special Assets* Data‐driven insights: Documents and tracks key risk indicators; produces portfolio analytics (trend, sensitivity, PD/LGD, collateral coverage) to inform strategy and capital allocation* Cross‐functional liaison & governance: Leads credit discussions; coordinates with RMs, Underwriting, Operations, and Credit Risk so approvals are obtained and recorded accurately in systems of record* Coaching & standards: Mentors PM I & II; improves loan policy/procedures, playbooks, and training content; champions a customer‐centric, compliance‐first culture* Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations* Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency* Work as part of a team* Work with on-site equipmentEducation and Experience* Associate's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related degree preferred* 8-12 years of SBA/Commercial credit with deep SBA SOP knowledge; proven success managing moderate to high complexity portfolios preferredNorthwest is an equal opportunity employer.
