Executive Director
Homewood Living Frederick is seeking an Executive Director to provide visionary leadership and operational oversight, ensuring the fulfillment of the organization's mission through excellence in care, service, and stewardship. Located less than an hour from Washington, DC; Annapolis; and Baltimore, Homewood Living Frederick is a vibrant Life Plan Community serving more than 700 residents and employing a dedicated team of more than 300 professionals.As the community's chief executive leader, the Executive Director reports to the Homewood Living Ministries' Chief Operating Officer and serves as a visible ambassador of the organization's ministry and values. This role fosters meaningful relationships with residents, families, staff, and community partners, while advancing the long-term sustainability and ministry impact of the organization.Job Summary:As directed by Homewood Living Ministries, the Executive Director provides overall leadership and operational oversight for the community's ministry. This role is responsible for advancing the organization's mission through the achievement of strategic objectives, financial targets, high levels of resident and co-worker satisfaction, and full regulatory compliance. The Executive Director ensures the delivery of high-quality, mission-aligned services while strengthening the organization's financial sustainability and long-term strategic goals.Essential Functions:Serves as a visible steward of the organization's mission and core values, ensuring accountability and alignment across all levels of the communityProvides overall leadership and direction for the community, with responsibility for the ministry, performance, culture, and effectiveness of all operating departmentsRecruits, develops, motivates, leads, and evaluates a high-performing leadership team and workforce in accordance with corporate policies and written guidelinesCoordinates and aligns the efforts of department leaders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and resident-centered servicesDevelops and manages the annual operating budget, in collaboration with and subject to the advice and consent of the Homewood Living Ministries' corporate officers and board; monitors financial performance, exercises appropriate budgetary controls, and ensures sound fiscal operationsUtilizes effective communication, problem-solving, and engagement strategies to foster a culture of high resident and staff satisfactionServes as a director on the Homewood Living Frederick Board of DirectorsPrepares and presents clear, accurate, and timely reports to boards, residents, staff, corporate leadership, and community stakeholdersLeads efforts to achieve and maintain strong occupancy across all levels of care, including responsibility for marketing, sales, public relations, and community engagementCollaborates with the COO and corporate staff on program development, facility planning, and strategic growth initiativesEnsures ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing senior living, healthcare, and housing operationsMaintains required professional licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator and remains current on best practices, trends, and regulatory developments in long-term care and senior housingEngages consultants as needed, with the advice and consent of the COO, and oversees their work to ensure alignment with organizational goals and value to the communityUpholds the confidentiality of all resident, family, and personnel information in accordance with organizational policy and applicable regulationsEnsures compliance with all corporate and facility policies, procedures, standards, and professional practicesPromotes positive relationships with residents, families, referral partners, community stakeholders, and the general publicServes as a liaison to local churches and faith communities in support of the organization's missionEnsures that the rights, dignity, and well-being of all residents and co-workers are respected and upheldPerforms other duties as assigned by the supervisorQualifications:Alignment with the organization's identity statements and core valuesValid State Nursing Home Administrator's license; interest and expertise in gerontologyBachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferredPossesses management ability including skills in written and verbal communication, reasoning and coachingHas compassion, understanding and empathy for older personsUnderstands management, delegation and motivational conceptsMust have qualities of leadership, initiative, good judgment and dependabilityMust have organizational skillsAbility to communicate to residents at a level they can understandProvides evidence of experience in and knowledge in the area of finance, governmental regulations, policy formulation, public relations, marketing, health law and organizational managementPhysical Requirements:Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer. This position has physical and mental aspects of sedentary work in which lifting requirements are minimal. Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or operate computers, objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
