Ascot exists to solve our clients' brightest tomorrow, through agility, collaboration, resilience, and discipline.\r\nPosition Overview\r\nReporting to the Business Intelligence Lead, the\r\nBusiness Intelligence Engineer\r\nsupports the development and maintenance of Power BI reports and dashboards used across Ascot's business, operations, and finance teams. This role works closely with senior BI engineers, data engineers, and business partners to deliver accurate, well-structured reporting solutions. The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of Power BI and SQL, strong attention to detail, and a desire to continue developing technical and analytical skills in an enterprise data environment. This role will be in the office with a hybrid work schedule.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nAssist in the development and maintenance of Power BI reports, dashboards, and datasets.\r\nSupport Power BI semantic models by creating and maintaining basic measures, calculated columns, and relationships.\r\nWrite and modify SQL queries to retrieve and validate data from enterprise data sources.\r\nPerform data validation and reconciliation to ensure reports are accurate and align with source systems.\r\nWork with senior developers and data engineers to understand data structures, definitions, and reporting standards.\r\nHelp address report defects, enhancements, and routine maintenance requests.\r\nParticipate in requirements discussions to understand reporting needs and assist in translating them into Power BI solutions.\r\nFollow established development standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices.\r\nLearn and apply best practices related to data modeling, report performance, and usability.\r\nCommitment to The Ascot Way: Embody The Ascot Way in their daily interaction with colleagues, fostering colleague engagement and development, collaboration, inclusivity, and individual accountability\r\nRequirements\r\nBachelor's degree in information systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).\r\n2–3 years of experience working with Power BI in a professional or business setting.\r\nSome experience working with relational databases and structured datasets.\r\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.\r\nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.\r\nWillingness to learn new tools, techniques, and business concepts.\r\nPower BI fundamentals, including:\r\nReport and dashboard creation\r\nBasic data modeling concepts\r\nIntroductory DAX measures and calculations\r\nWorking knowledge of SQL for querying and validating data.\r\nFamiliarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server or similar platforms).\r\nBasic understanding of data warehousing and ETL concepts.\r\nAbility to read and follow existing data models and report designs.\r\nAnalytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.\r\nHigh attention to detail and data quality.\r\nClear written and verbal communication skills.\r\nPositive attitude and eagerness to grow technical capabilities.\r\nThis position may be filled at a different level, depending on experience\r\nCompensation\r\nActual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package for employees.
