Join us and be part of a thriving company with endless possibilities for career development.\n\nGeneral Purpose:\nResponsible for leading structural design project teams and making civil and structural deliverables for engineering and construction projects.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nPerform civil and structural engineering deliverables including the design and analysis of structural steel and foundations in the heavy industrial sector, especially power, chemical, metals, and oil & gas.\nAdvise on design principles and standards.\nDevelop and revise engineering design procedures and technical specifications.\nDevelop sketches and coordinate the completion of associated 3D models with the design team.\nLead Design Reviews and Lesson Learned sessions.\nProvide cost estimating support for civil/structural proposals (hours, quantities, etc.).\nPerformance of multiple projects on a continuous basis.\nCoordinate the activities of the design operation including organizing staff, allocating, prioritizing, and reviewing the work of subordinates, providing technical advice and instruction.\nProvides technical support on construction or operating sites, as needed.\nProvide technical oversight, mentorship, and peer review in the Design team.\nMonitor and report weekly on the status of current civil/structural design projects.\nAssists in the recruitment and selection of structural design team staff.\nEffectively communicate and project the principles of the Talent Advantaged Roadmap.\nPerform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.\nQualifications:\nBachelor of Science degree in civil or structural engineering with experience in civil/structural design for heavy industry.\nProfessional Engineer license is preferred.\nDisplay a good working knowledge of industry standard design practices, good mechanical aptitude and general knowledge of engineering.\nUnderstanding of design code standards and specifications (ASME, ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC).\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.\nProficient in the use of structural design and analysis tools (STAAD, or similar) and knowledgeable about the use of 3D model tools (Advanced Steel, SDS, or similar) in the engineering discipline.\nBasic computer skills in Microsoft Word with intermediate skills in Excel and Outlook.\nAbility to organize, allocate, prioritize, review, instruct and train work of subordinates.\nDemonstrate effective interpersonal skills with all levels in the company.\nAbility to attain and promote good customer relationships (both internal and external).","company":"Mccarls Technical Services","rawCompany":"mccarls technical services","city":"Albany","state":"IN","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-06-03T09:29:31.402Z","occupations":[{"code":"17-2051.00","title":"Civil Engineers","slug":"civil-engineers"},{"code":"11-9041.00","title":"Architectural and Engineering Managers","slug":"architectural-and-engineering-managers"},{"code":"17-2141.00","title":"Mechanical Engineers","slug":"mechanical-engineers"}],"industries":[{"code":"541330","title":"Engineering Services","slug":"engineering-services"},{"code":"238120","title":"Structural Steel and Precast Concrete Contractors","slug":"structural-steel-and-precast-concrete-contractors"},{"code":"332312","title":"Fabricated Structural Metal Manufacturing","slug":"fabricated-structural-metal-manufacturing"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Lead Structural Engineer","description":"As McCarl's continues to experience success and increasing demand for the high-quality services we provide, we are excited to offer new opportunities for growth and advancement.
