The Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle is NASA's next-generation spacecraft built to carry astronauts beyond low-Earth orbit — back to the Moon and eventually to Mars. As part of the Artemis program, this role puts you at the center of human spaceflight readiness, developing and maintaining the simulation software that NASA's Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) uses to train the crews who will fly these missions. If you are driven by a passion for space exploration and want your work to directly support the future of human spaceflight, apply today!\r\nKey Duties\r\nImplement SOCRRATES and simulation software requirements for FOD Training updates beyond the Lockheed Martin baseline scope.\r\nExecute the full software development lifecycle per the software development plan, including requirements, design, implementation, verification, and validation.\r\nProduce software deliverable updates following software development plan standard processes and applicable reviews.\r\nProvide onsite support at JSC and oncall support to FOD Training for Problem Analysis and Error Correction (PAEC), including troubleshooting, prioritizing, and rapidly resolving software issues to minimize training disruption.\r\nProvide dedicated FOD engineering changes and build support for Artemis III, including maintaining command and telemetry compatibility with Mission Control Center (MCC).\r\nPerform an Artemis IV requirement assessment with FOD Training to identify gaps and recommend simulation upgrades needed to support future mission training.\r\nDeliver monthly status reports on all assigned tasks.\r\nRequired Skills, Experience, and Education\r\nDue to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.\r\nThis position requires access to federal facilities. May be reduced with the completion of advanced education.\r\n5 or more years of directly related experience in simulation software development or spacecraft software systems.\r\nProficiency in C++ and Python software development.\r\nExperience with real-time 6 DoF simulation.\r\nExtensive experience in debugging and implementing best software engineering practices in large-scale systems.\r\nExtensive experience with Linux development environment.\r\nExperience with Perforce.\r\nExtensive experience with different network protocols (esp.
