We use our data, ratings, and analyses to serve firms on both impact and sustainability-related services.\n\nDurham, NC(Hybrid/2 days a week in the offices)\n\nWhat you will do:\nDesign, develop, and maintain robust Ruby on Rails applications with a focus on performance and scalability.\n\nWrite clean, well-tested, and well-documented code following team conventions and best practices.\n\nBuild and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services.\n\nDesign and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and migrations.\n\nDeploy and monitor applications on AWS infrastructure (ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).\n\nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to architectural discussions.\n\nDebug and resolve production issues with a sense of urgency and ownership. This will often include working closely with our QA engineers/product team to identify and resolve problems quickly.\n\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines and advocate for engineering best practices.\n\nMentor junior team members and share knowledge across the team.\n\nTo qualify for the role, you must have:\n3+ years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails.\n\nProficiency with SQL.\n\nHands-on experience deploying and maintaining applications on AWS (ECS, EC2, RDS, S3).\n\nSolid understanding of RESTful API design and development.\n\nExperience writing automated tests (RSpec or similar).\n\nFamiliarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and integration with Rails views or API consumers.\n\nProficiency with Git and experience working in a collaborative pull-request workflow.\n\nStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a distributed team spanning multiple time zones.\n\nIdeally, you will also have:\nExperience with background job processing (Sidekiq, Delayed Job, or similar).\n\nFamiliarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, ECS, or Kubernetes).\n\nExperience with caching strategies (Redis, Memcached).\n\nKnowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Typescript).\n\nExperience with observability and monitoring tools (New Relic especially).\n\nStrong proficiency with PostgreSQL — schema design, indexing, query optimization, and ActiveRecord.\n\nExperience working within an Agile software dev lifecycle using JIRA/Confluence\n\nWhat working at ACA offers:\nWe offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.
