Peninsula Agency on Aging (PAA) is currently seeking an individual to serve as Van Driver for the RIDES Program in Williamsburg. CDL not required. Introduction Peninsula Agency on Aging has been providing services that have enabled seniors to live independently since 1974. Our mission is to support the independence and quality of life of Peninsula residents, primarily 60 years and over, by advocating, arranging, or providing vital human services. Core Competencies Our staff value and model empathy and compassion, reliability, ability, respect for all, and communicating with kindness. Key Responsibilities Operate a van and pick up senior citizens for congregate meals and return them to their homes. Assist participants in and out of vehicles. Transport senior citizens to doctors, outings and points of interest. Transport meals, deliver supplies, assist with loading and unloading of meals, food, and supplies. Maintain all related passenger lists, trip records, and other information as required by the Agency. Perform daily pre-trip vehicle inspections and ensure vans are properly fueled and maintained. Essential Skills and Experience Valid Virginia driver's license. Dependable. Knowledge of the principles and practices of operating and servicing vans. Thorough knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing van operation. Ability to assist clients in wheelchairs. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
