OverviewBe part of the nation’s only repository for the disposal of nuclear waste known as Transuranic (TRU) waste.Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, LLC (SIMCO), managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual, to serve as an Operations Training Specialist, and join our team.Position may be eligible to work at one of the following sites: Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), Los Alamos, New Mexico; Hanford National Laboratory (HNL), Richland, Washington; Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Oak Ridge, Tennessee; or Savannah River Site (SRS), Aiken, South Carolina.ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Central Characterization Program (CCP) Training team. CCP is responsible for ensuring Transuranic (TRU) waste is safe and compliant for transportation and permanent disposal at the WIPP. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality, CCP operations focused training programs in a highly technical and safety-conscious work environment.The CCP Training and Qualification Program is managed and maintained using the Department of Energy (DOE) Systematic Approach to Training (SAT), as required by DOE O 426.2, and through the application of the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). This role is essential to ensure the CCP workforce is effectively qualified, operations-related activities are conducted in a safe and disciplined manner, and our training program meets the strict compliance requirements from DOE O 426.2.Key RsponsibilitiesApply the DOE SAT and ADDIE model to develop and maintain effective technical and professional operations-related training programs.Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME), management, and training peers, to ensure content is accurate, effective, and in alignment with operational and mission needs.Design and develop a wide range of robust operations-related training materials, including formal classroom content (and lesson plans), on-the-job training (OJT) and evaluations, and knowledge-based examinations.Facilitate training sessions, including classroom and virtual training sessions.Maintain accurate training documentation in accordance with quality assurance and records management requirements.Lead the implementation of Conduct of Operations and maintain associated training materials and procedures.Travel to Host sites across the DOE complex a minimum of 25% to support operations-related training needs.Minimum RequirementsThese requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) years of professional experience*, orAssociate’s degree with fourteen (14) years of professional experience*, orHigh School Diploma or Equivalency with eighteen (18) years of professional experience* is required.*Experience must include five (5) years of CCP operations or similar waste characterization and certification program experience.Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances.
