Your health and safety are our number one priority, and we will do our best to accommodate within reason.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTION:\nThe Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment as well as preparing materials for usage, storage, or shipment. This position involves operations, sanitation, and maintenance of production equipment.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nAbility to be flexible & operate within various departments.\nMaintain a safe, clean work environment for all areas & equipment to maintain compliance with established safety & quality policies & procedures; including cleaning & sanitizing all equipment and facilities as required.\nEnsure finished products meet quality specifications by accurately conducting quality checks and sampling to ensure product specifications by completing checks on lines.\nObserve machine operations to ensure the quality and conformity of the product.\nManually records data through chart recording and makes necessary process adjustments based on data findings & to demonstrate compliance with safety, food safety, and environmental laws, regulations, or policies.\nEnsure productivity by adhering to manufacturing practices, standard operating procedures, critical control points, and safety and food safety practices.\nMake independent adjustments to machines to maintain the greatest operational efficiency including properly reattaching parts as needed, properly setting speed, and adjusting other settings.\nActively work with maintenance, CI, and engineering to optimize the machine and overall line performance.\nMust be willing and able to do start-ups, shutdowns, and changeovers.\nParticipates in the creation of SOPs, Standard settings, and continuous improvement activities.\nIdentify potential problems and correct the defect or notify the appropriate resources.\nStop, reset, or troubleshoot machines when malfunctions occur clear machine jams, and report defects to the appropriate resource.\nPrepare, stage, verify and set raw materials/packing materials by utilizing power industrial equipment as needed.\nMust be able to follow a bill of material, perform basic weight conversions.\nRemove finished product items from the machine and separate rejected or defective items.\nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n\nESSENTIAL/SKILLS NEEDED:\nMicrosoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook experience\nThe ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.\nAbility to meet production schedules or other deadlines with a team.\nGood verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to operate powered industrial equipment.\nGood interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of staff, co-workers, and all those involved with the production process.\nMust be detail-oriented, self-motivated, organized, and use good judgment.\nMust be able to multitask and adapt to change.\nMust be willing to train new staff and be logical and reasonable in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of coworkers to ensure proper training methods are imposed.\nAble to identify areas of improvement in complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.\nMust possess excellent time management skills for themselves and others.\nKnowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and storing of goods.\nEnglish comprehension including speaking, reading, and writing is required for our business's necessity to ensure a safe and effective work environment.\n\nEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\n3-5 years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment food manufacturing preferred\nUnderstanding of production procedures\nExperience with Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement methodologies desired.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus.\n\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMay require the employee to frequently lift and/or carry with two hands up to fifty (50) pounds\nRequired to stand and walk for an entire shift.\nRequires frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching bending, twisting, stooping, and squatting\nRequires frequent visual quality control observations which may include turning and bending of the head and neck area.\nRequires frequent repetitive motion.\nMust be able to work in various indoor temperatures including elevated heat and humidity\nExposure to elevated noise levels which occur below OSHA thresholds.\nInfrequent exposure to machine sanitation solutions and detergents\nExposure to various spices and food manufacturing smells throughout a work shift.\nRequired to wear Personal Protective Equipment [PPE]\nRequired to follow Good Manufacturing Practices [GMPs]\nMay be required to work in noisy environments while using hearing protection\nExposure to food allergens such as, but not limited to, milk eggs, tree nuts, wheat, and soybeans will occur.\n\nConduct, Quality, Integrity, and Culture\nConduct: We will conduct every aspect of our business with honesty, integrity, and openness, respecting human rights and the interests of our employees, customers, and third parties.\nQuality: Shank’s is committed to food safety and product quality.
