Rooted in history yet thoughtfully evolved for the modern guest, The Heathman blends classic elegance with contemporary comfort in the heart of downtown Portland.The AM Line Cook is responsible for preparing and executing high-quality breakfast and brunch service while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and consistency in the kitchen. This role supports the culinary team by ensuring timely food preparation, adherence to recipes and standards, and a positive guest dining experience reflective of The Heathman Hotel’s hospitality standards.Requested Tasks: Prepare and cook breakfast and brunch menu items according to recipes and presentation standardsSet up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before serviceMaintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations throughout the shiftEnsure food quality, freshness, and proper portioningFollow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulationsCommunicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams during serviceAssist with prep work, inventory rotation, and receiving deliveries as neededMonitor food waste and support cost-control effortsMaintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented attitudeSupport banquet or special event breakfast service when require Requested Capabilities: Previous line cook or breakfast cook experience preferredKnowledge of breakfast preparation techniques and kitchen equipmentAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail and time management skillsAbility to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 poundsFlexible schedule availability, including weekends and holidaysFood Handler Certification preferred or required per local regulationsExperience in hotel, fine dining, or upscale casual restaurant environmentsUnderstanding of kitchen safety and sanitation proceduresTeam collaboration and strong communication skillsPassion for hospitality and culinary excellenceAbility to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shiftsAbility to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift items up to 50 poundsAbility to safely operate kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, slicers, fryers, and knivesAs part of the Makeready collection, we proudly offer a variety of thoughtful benefits and perks for eligible team members including accommodating PTO, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401k and a wide range of additional ancillary benefits.
