SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Custodian 1 is responsible to maintain a sanitary and safe environment within the Head Start/Early Head Start facility.QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL:High School Diploma or GEDRequires some knowledge of: methods, materials, and equipment used in light-duty custodial work; custodial safety practices; and cleaning agents and related products and their possible reactionsCurrent driver's licenseAbility to operate vacuums and rug shampooersComplete criminal record check from Department of Health & Welfare's Criminal History Unit prior to consideration for hireTYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL:Treat participants, fellow staff and community members with positive regard.Maintain safe working habits to insure a safe working environmentClean, sanitize, and polish lavatory and sink fixturesDust, wash and sponge mopSanitize and shampoo furniture, woodwork, walls, windows, and glass itemsClean shades and covers on light fixturesReplace light bulbsRemove waste and debris from areasSweep, vacuum, and shampoo carpetMove furniturePerform snow removal when applicableLook after assigned equipment to insure maximum life and efficient operationDevelop and update MSDS binderParticipate in an individualized continuing education plan including CPR and First AidADDITIONAL:Perform other duties as assigned.Required SkillsRequired Experience
