Join us, and your work will directly shape how millions of students learn.\n\nPOSITION SUMMARY\n\nAs a Senior QA Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our digital platforms. You will design and execute comprehensive test strategies, contribute to the development of automation frameworks, and apply modern QA practices to deliver efficient, scalable, and maintainable solutions.\n\nYou will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other QA team members to identify risks, improve testing processes, and ensure seamless integration across systems. While this is not a management role, you will mentor junior QA engineers, share best practices, and help raise the overall quality bar within the team. Your work will directly impact the stability, performance, and trustworthiness of products that support millions of teachers and students.\n\nLocation: Onsite two days a week, if you live within a 45-mile radius of the Houston headquarters. Remote for those outside of the Houston metropolitan area.\n\nPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nKey responsibilities include:\nContribute to a comprehensive QA practice by executing manual, automated, and AI-assisted testing.\nApply and improve QA processes, standards, and metrics to ensure consistent quality across assigned projects.\nMentor junior QA team members by sharing best practices, but without formal management responsibilities.\nDesign, implement, and maintain automated test suites for backend services, frontend applications, and APIs.\nUtilize modern testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright) and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines to improve efficiency.\nEvaluate and experiment with AI-driven testing tools to enhance regression coverage, defect detection, and test optimization.\nCollaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and DevOps to integrate QA throughout the software development lifecycle.\nSupport coordination with vendor QA teams, helping ensure alignment with internal testing standards.\nProvide input during design and architecture discussions to advocate for testability, scalability, and resilience.\nDefine and execute detailed test strategies, plans, and schedules for individual features and releases.\nCommunicate testing progress, risks, and quality findings to project stakeholders and team leads.\nPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.\n5–7+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with strong hands-on involvement in automation and testing strategies.\nProven expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining test automation frameworks in cloud-native environments.\nStrong experience testing both backend services (APIs, microservices) and frontend applications.\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and API-driven architectures.\nHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability, and performance testing tools.\nExposure to AI/ML-based testing tools is a plus, with interest in adopting modern QA practices.\nStrong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with Product, Engineering, and DevOps teams.\nExperience mentoring junior QA engineers and contributing to the growth of QA best practices.\nStrong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to balance quality with delivery timelines.\nBonus: AWS Cloud Practitioner certification or equivalent knowledge.
