As an integral member of the Plant Management Team, this position will support and advise site management regarding the Safety Management System.\n\nResponsibilities include formulating a proactive local safety strategy that drives the plant to become a sustainable, healthy, and safe operation; participating in the development of a safety vision that includes continual enhancement of established programs and consistent implementation of new programs within a team environment; and supporting efforts to eliminate, prevent, or reduce the occurrence of safety, health, and medical issues.\n\nThis position will also facilitate the development and maintenance of behaviors, attitudes, and a safety culture that supports the goals, behaviors, and actions of Tyson Foods and will act as a change agent to accelerate best-practice sharing within the facility.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nDirect safety programs for the site.\n\nRecommend the design and implementation of new programs to minimize company losses due to accidents and measure program effectiveness.\n\nLead compliance with OSHA regulations and the Tyson Foods Ergonomic Program.\n\nInspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with OSHA requirements.\n\nMaintain OSHA files and supporting documentation.\n\nAccompany OSHA inspectors during plant inspections.\n\nRegularly inspect and review plant operations to ensure compliance of all permits, operations, and equipment with state and federal regulations.\n\nReport potential violations and recommend corrective actions as needed.\n\nAnalyze accident statistics to determine necessary precautions and identify changes needed to improve plant safety.\n\nCommunicate safety policy and procedure updates to management personnel.\n\nEnsure all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices are reviewed annually, or more frequently as required by operational changes or regulatory updates, and are implemented in a timely manner.\n\nConduct safety inspections and procedural audits in the field and take immediate corrective action when necessary.\n\nReview safety-related issues to evaluate policies, determine root causes, identify corrective actions, and conduct training in areas including:\n\nErgonomics\n\nEmergency Response Team (ERT)\n\nLockout/Tagout (LOTO)\n\nHazard Communication\n\nPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE)\n\nInvestigate all safety-related incidents, review incident reports, and complete required documentation for insurance carriers, risk management systems, and the corporate safety office.\n\nRequirements\nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\nExperience\n\nThree or more years of progressive experience in environmental, safety, and sustainability management preferred.\n\nStrong knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, hazard communication, accident investigation, and safety training methods.\n\nKnowledge of industry best practices related to safety and environmental programs, including Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) safety practices.\n\nComputer Skills\n\nProficient in standard computer applications and systems.\n\nCommunication Skills\n\nAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.\n\nSpecial Skills\n\nAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.\n\nAbility to write clearly and effectively in a professional business environment.\n\nRelocation Assistance Eligible: Yes\n\nWork Shift: 1ST SHIFT (United States of America)\n\nCertain roles at Tyson require background checks.
