Category Manager

Job SummaryThe Category Manager performs daily activities associated with the sourcing and procurement of services, including categories such as interior and exterior services, landscaping, snow removal, janitorial, and pest control. This role manages a team of Buyers and oversees the supplier database, including supplier capabilities, cost analysis, and key performance indicators. The Category Manager provides supplier pricing and market analysis to support contract negotiations and ensure optimal sourcing strategies across all managed service categories Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesExecutes daily purchases as appropriateWorks within cross-functional teams in RFx development and executionPerforms cost/value analysis of supplier products or servicesMaintains supplier information within supplier databaseMonitors trends in the service supply or product marketsMonitors service levels and takes corrective action when necessaryNegotiates agreements (SOW, SLA, etc) with potential suppliersInvestigates and initiates alternate sourcing as appropriateInvestigates and initiates cost savings opportunitiesAnalyzes and corrects as necessary Accounts Payable discrepanciesFormulates strategic sourcing optionsQualificationsFour year degree in business, supply chain management or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum five years experience is preferred in general procurement with high customer service requirementC.P.S.M. desirableProficiency is required in Microsoft applications with emphasis on Microsoft ExcelProficiency in E-Sourcing tools and their applications an advantageExperience in ERP systems (SAP preferred)Ability to review and understand general instructionsStrong problem solving skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAssists in the training of new employeesEnsures that the team can adapt to new situations, issues and objectivesEncourages creative ideas and develops solutions that benefit the businessTranslates business goals into concrete objectives and individual performance plansRecognizes and respects differencesFocuses the team’s attention on goals and objectives during times of uncertaintyFocuses the team on increasing customer satisfaction through the implementation of higher value solutionsEnsures self, team members and customers are effectively working togetherSolid knowledge and support of formal RFx processes and sourcing/procurement activitiesFacilities management understandingEqual Opportunity EmployerAs a leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction, facilities services, and energy infrastructure, we offer employees a competitive salary and benefits package and we are always looking for individuals with the talent and skills required to contribute to our continued growth and success.
