Job Description
SUMMARYWe are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a global packaging manufacturing leader located in Richmond, VA. This role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in supporting plant reliability, uptime, and continuous improvement across a high-speed manufacturing operation. You will work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to optimize electrical systems, troubleshoot issues, and drive performance improvements.DESCRIPTIONProvide hands-on electrical engineering support to daily plant operations, ensuring safe and efficient productionTroubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and automation issues impacting uptime and performanceSupport and optimize systems, including PLCs, motor control centers, drives, instrumentation, DCS/automation platforms, and industrial networksPartner with maintenance, reliability, and operations teams to implement corrective and preventive solutionsParticipate in preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including condition monitoring and reliability initiativesContribute to capital projects, equipment upgrades, and automation improvements across the facilityCollaborate with OEMs, vendors, and contractors on installations, commissioning, and technical problem-solvingMaintain and update electrical documentation, including schematics, system configurations, and equipment historyEnsure compliance with all safety standards, electrical codes, and regulatory requirementsDrive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational performanceREQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Industrial Technology, or related field2–5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, maintenance, or reliability within a manufacturing or industrial environmentExperience in packaging, pulp & paper, or other high-speed process industries strongly preferredStrong knowledge of electrical power systems, motors, drives, PLCs, and industrial automation systemsProven troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in complex industrial environmentsFamiliarity with reliability methodologies, predictive maintenance tools, and maintenance workflowsAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentationStrong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departmentsHighly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing settingKnowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices is a plusStrong commitment to safety and adherence to electrical standards and best practices
