New Boston, MI | Great work schedule | 75-80KThe Buyer is responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, cost optimization, and ensuring material availability across multiple plants. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and commercial skills, as well as the ability to understand manufacturing needs, manage complex supplier contracts, and support corporate purchasing objectives. Collaboration across departments and proactive cost saving initiatives are key to success.Skills And Qualifications You’ll HaveBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in purchasing or supply chain.5+ years demonstrated purchasing experience.Strong negotiation, financial, analytical, and quantitative skills.Ability to interpret complex equipment and production project requirements.Understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies (TQM, Six Sigma, etc.).Have a strategic take charge and own the process mentality. Ability to work effectively within a team and independently. Effective communicator with strong presentation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.What you’ll do:Contribute to departmental purchasing strategy and achieve key performance metrics.Lead RFQ development based on plant forecasts and material requirements.Analyze supplier quotes for price, quality, service, and delivery; recommend suppliers aligned with commodity strategies and purchasing policies.Negotiate contracts, including pricing, payment terms, service levels, and plant specific needs.Build and manage supplier relationships using SRM tools focused on quality, performance, and innovation.Drive cost saving initiatives and support engineering change management with required commercial data.Purchase materials at the lowest total cost while ensuring quality, reliability, and timely delivery.Monitor category spend, supplier performance, compliance, standards, specifications, and industry benchmarks.Collaborate closely with corporate and plant teams; assist plants with expediting and issue resolution.Apply purchasing terminology and maintain strong knowledge of OEM and plant operations.Maintain awareness of market trends and cost drivers affecting assigned commodities.Zing Recruiting, a leader in the staffing industry for the past 33 years, continues our vision of ‘linking’ communities through employment.
