You will be responsible for establishing engineering standards, mentoring high-performing teams, modernizing legacy platforms, and delivering trusted, scalable data products that power analytics, machine learning, and AI across the enterprise.\n\nThis role requires a hands-on technology leader who combines deep Databricks expertise with strong leadership, architectural thinking, and a passion for building modern engineering organizations.\n\nJob Description\n\nWhat You'll Do\n\nLead Enterprise Data Engineering\n\nBuild, lead, and mentor a high-performing Data Engineering organization.\nEstablish engineering standards, development practices, coding standards, and delivery frameworks.\nFoster a culture of ownership, innovation, automation, and continuous improvement.\nDevelop future engineering leaders through coaching and mentorship.\n\nLead the Enterprise Databricks Platform\n\nServe as the organization's technical leader and subject matter expert for the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.\nDefine enterprise standards and best practices for Databricks development.\nLead adoption of new Databricks capabilities including Unity Catalog, Lakeflow, Delta Lake, AI/ML, Workflows, and performance optimization.\nEstablish reusable engineering frameworks that accelerate delivery across the organization.\nPartner with Databricks product teams and strategic partners to continuously evolve the platform.\n\nModernize Enterprise Data Platforms\n\nLead migration of legacy ETL workloads to modern Databricks ELT architectures.\nDesign scalable, resilient, and cloud-native data pipelines.\nDrive automation across ingestion, transformation, orchestration, deployment, monitoring, and recovery.\nOptimize performance, scalability, reliability, and cloud cost management.\n\nDeliver Trusted Enterprise Data Products\n\nBuild reliable data pipelines supporting analytics, AI, operational reporting, and executive decision making.\nCollaborate with Data Architecture to implement enterprise information models and integration patterns.\nPartner with Data Governance & Trust to embed governance, metadata, lineage, and quality into engineering solutions.\nEnable reusable enterprise data products that reduce duplication and accelerate delivery.\n\nEngineering Excellence\n\nEstablish CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and DevOps best practices.\nImprove platform observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.\nLead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.\nDefine engineering KPIs and continuously improve delivery performance.\n\nWhat You Bring\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.\nMaster's degree preferred.\n10+ years of enterprise Data Engineering experience.\n5+ years leading Data Engineering teams within large enterprise environments.\nExpert-level experience designing and implementing enterprise solutions using the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.\nDeep expertise in Apache Spark, Delta Lake, SQL, Python, PySpark, and distributed data processing.\nStrong knowledge of Unity Catalog, Delta Live Tables (Lakeflow), Databricks Workflows, notebooks, cluster optimization, and platform administration.\nProven experience modernizing enterprise data platforms and migrating legacy ETL solutions.\nExperience implementing CI/CD pipelines, Git-based development, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps practices.\nStrong understanding of Medallion Architecture, dimensional modeling, and modern enterprise data architectures.\nExcellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nDatabricks Certified Data Engineer Professional certification.\nExperience with Azure cloud services and enterprise security.\nExperience with Data Vault 2.0.\nKnowledge of AI, machine learning, and enterprise analytics platforms.\nInsurance or Financial Services industry experience.\nExperience leading enterprise-scale modernization initiatives.\n\nLeadership Competencies\n\nStrategic and visionary technology leader.\nStrong enterprise architecture mindset.\nPassion for engineering excellence.\nExceptional people leadership and coaching skills.\nBusiness-first decision making.\nCustomer-centric mindset.\nHigh accountability and execution discipline.\nContinuous learner who embraces emerging technologies.\n\nCompensation\n\nSalary Range: $195,000 to $210,000\nThis role may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus.\nSalary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training\n\nWhat AmeriLife Offers\n\nA comprehensive benefits package that includes PTO, medical, dental, vision, retirement savings, disability insurance, and life insurance.\n\nEqual Employment Opportunity Statement\n\nWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer and value diversity at all levels of the organization.
