The support staff/floater supports the teachers and director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. They must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the assistant teacher observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Assistant teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of admin and teachers as needed.
Duties
Assist in the implementation of learning activities and encourage participation by children.
Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
Follow all center policies and state regulations.
Ensure a healthy classroom environment ? including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
Maintain personal professional development by staying up to date on state mandated hours/trainings.
Ability to utilize classroom management skills
Following closing procedures as listed in classrooms with opening/closing classrooms.
Requirements
Flexibility and working in classrooms as scheduled/needed.
Comfortable working with a variety of age groups from 6 weeks to 10 years of age.
Reliability and consistency

Strong oral and written communication skills.
A strong understanding of child development.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must clear full background check.
Must pass health screening.
Nice To Haves
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
6 months of childcare experience in a DSS licensed childcare facility.
