As part of the energy mix, the United States relies on a steady supply of crude oil to produce products we use on a daily basis. LOOP plays a key role in meeting those daily energy needs as the single largest point of entry for waterborne crude oil coming into the U.S.\r\nLOOP is a joint venture of Marathon Petroleum Company, Shell Oil Company, and Valero, and is the only Deepwater Port in the U.S. capable of offloading and loading a wide range of vessels from Ultra Large Crude Carriers down to Medium Range Tankers.\r\nLOOP stores crude oil in eight underground caverns in a naturally occurring salt dome capable of storing approximately 60 million barrels. In addition, LOOP has a modern above-ground tank facility consisting of twenty-two tanks with a total storage capacity of 12 million barrels.\r\nLOOP has called Louisiana home for over forty years. With headquarters in Covington and operating facilities in Galliano and St. James LA, as well as a facility 20 miles in the Gulf of Mexico.\r\nSummary Description\r\nCandidates are screened and interviewed for limited positions each year. Interns are identified to be productive leaders of the future and eager to learn about our company. Successful interns effectively manage projects assigned and willing to help with tasks assigned by Mentor.\r\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\r\nThe program is purposely broad in scope and designed to allows Interns flexibility in managing their learning.\r\nInterns are expected to make the most out of each experience assignment and develop their own learning in accordance with their interests.\r\nInterns are required to maintain a journal of their experience.\r\nThe Journal will be a large compilation of Interns' experience and should be organized and may contain photos, drawings or other methods of relevant documentation.\r\nA Mentor is assigned to each Intern for high-level supervision. The Mentor shall hold regular meeting with assigned Associates in order to assess progress and facilitate logistics and experience assignments.\r\nPerformance assessments will be conducted on a regular basis for each Intern.\r\nIntern will conduct a presentation detail experiences and productivity of assignments at the conclusion of the internship.\r\nEducation and/or Experience:Once year of college maintaining a 3.0 GPA preferred.
