This Home Health Occupational Therapist position is based in the Eufaula, Alabama area, offering a unique opportunity to practice in a community known for its charm, natural beauty, and welcoming atmosphere. Eufaula sits on the shores of Lake Eufaula, one of the Southeast’s premier destinations for fishing and boating, and is surrounded by scenic parks, wildlife refuges, and tree-lined neighborhoods. The city blends small-town friendliness with convenient access to regional hubs, making it an appealing home base for clinicians seeking both professional fulfillment and an exceptional quality of life.
Eufaula and the greater Barbour County region highlight a relaxed, family-friendly lifestyle with affordable housing, low commute times, and a strong sense of community pride. Residents enjoy outdoor recreation year-round, including lake activities, hiking, birdwatching, and community festivals that showcase the area’s historic downtown and antebellum architecture. The area’s emphasis on quality growth and outdoor recreation creates a pleasant environment to build a long-term career in home health.
In this role, you will provide Occupational Therapy services to patients in their homes, helping individuals maintain independence, safety, and function in the setting that matters most to them. You will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary home health team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care. Typical diagnoses may include post-surgical recovery, stroke, neurological conditions, cardiopulmonary disease, orthopedic injuries, and general deconditioning.
Your typical day will include traveling to patient homes throughout Eufaula and surrounding communities, completing visits that focus on functional mobility, ADL and IADL training, home safety and environmental modifications, adaptive equipment recommendations, and caregiver education. Caseload and visit volume are designed to allow you to provide thorough, high-quality care while maintaining appropriate documentation and communication with the broader care team. You will be expected to utilize an electronic medical record for timely and accurate documentation and to participate in case conferences and care coordination meetings.
The position offers exposure to a diverse patient population in both town and rural settings, providing powerful experience in community-based rehabilitation and allowing you to see the direct impact of your interventions on patients’ daily lives. The home health environment encourages autonomy, critical thinking, and the development of strong patient relationships, while still providing support from clinical leadership and an experienced interdisciplinary team.
