STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES is the in-house engineering business line of Structural Group.\r\nWe are currently recruiting for an CAD Drafter / Designer to join our STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES team in Kansas City, MO or Columbia, MD.\r\nWe are seeking a mid-level Structural CAD/BIM Drafter and Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and modifying 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD, BIM and VDC software for structural design and construction projects. You will collaborate with our engineering, inspection and design teams to complete civil/structural models, plans and drawings for inspections, repairs and new build projects.\r\nThis position offers a flexible schedule with a hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate will be in the office 2-3 days a week, with the option to work remotely on the remaining days or as needed. You will participate in project coordination meetings and communicate with other stakeholders, including engineers, inspectors, contractors, and owners, both in-person and virtually.\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\nWorking closely with engineers to create and modify structural models and drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, details, quantity take-offs, material lists and schedules for construction projects\r\nCollaborating with engineering and inspection teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of all structural drawings and models\r\nCoordinating with engineers, inspectors, contractors, and owners to resolve design and field conditions\r\nDiscussing field conditions with construction and operations teams and implementing necessary revisions.\r\nPreparing detailed drawing packages necessary to perform all phases of construction.\r\nPerforming site walks to confirm existing conditions and layout/geometry of existing structural systems.\r\nReviewing project documents and drawings to compute, develop, and verify requirements for drafting data, such as configuration of elements, dimensions, and tolerances.\r\nRetaining and filing project documents and drafts as well as final approved drawings.\r\nCreating graphics for client presentations.\r\nQualifications\r\n4-8 years of experience in computer-aided drafting/design\r\nProficient with Autodesk software including Revit and AutoCAD\r\nDemonstrated ability to effectively visualize and produce 3D BIM models from 2D plans.\r\nProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\r\nAble to work closely with engineers and field inspectors to create models and drawings from hand sketches and written/verbal specifications\r\nBasic knowledge of building codes and construction practices\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nProficiency in the preparation of steel reinforcement details for reinforced concrete structures consistent with ACI standards\r\nExperience with preparation of connection details for structural steel members consistent with AISC Standards and AWS Welding symbols\r\nExperience with preparation of concrete formwork details\r\nExperience with preparation temporary structural supports / shoring details\r\nDemonstrated proficiency with creating Revit families\r\nProficient with using Autodesk Advanced Steel and/or Dynamo\r\nExperience with developing BIM models from LiDAR scan data\r\nStrong communication and collaboration skills\r\nAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously\r\nWhat Success Looks Like In This Role\r\nProducing clear, coordinated, construction-ready drawings\r\nAnticipating coordination issues before they reach the field\r\nTaking ownership of model quality and documentation standards\r\nEstablish and maintain strong relationships with our engineering and field teams\r\nContinuously improving how BIM tools are applied across projects\r\nStructural Technologies is proud of a company culture that promotes 24/7 safety and quality.
