{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"60e2a7e88432bce46f1ddb85","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/60e2a7e88432bce46f1ddb85","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/60e2a7e88432bce46f1ddb85","title":"Assembler","description":"Basic Function: Performs precision assembly, termination, polishing, and inspection of fiber optic cable assemblies and harsh environment connectivity products in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and manufacturing procedures.\r\nSignificant Responsibilities\r\nPerforms specific job responsibilities\r\n\r\nAssemble, terminate, polish, and inspect fiber optic cable assemblies and harsh environment connectivity products according to engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards\r\nPrepare and route optical fibers and components using precision hand tools, microscopes, gauges, and specialized assembly equipment\r\nRead and interpret Bills of Material (BOMs), assembly drawings, manufacturing travelers, and process documentation\r\nIdentify and correct cosmetic, dimensional, and functional discrepancies in components and completed assemblies\r\nAccurately complete production, inspection, and traceability documentation in accordance with quality procedures\r\nMaintain workmanship standards related to fiber handling, connector cleanliness, polishing quality, cable routing, and ESD/safety requirements\r\nCollaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to support troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts\r\nMaintain productivity and quality standards while working independently with limited supervision following training\r\nWork overtime as needed to support production schedules and customer requirements\r\n\r\nPromotes OCC's service excellence and quality. Provides excellent service to customers; builds strong relationships and team cohesiveness; focuses on quality and positive solutions; communicates respectfully; demonstrates compassion and understanding in response to customer request/needs.\r\nChampions OCC's mission, vision and values (as detailed in our 15 Essential Points of Success); complies with policies and procedures, ethical standards and Code of Conduct.\r\nMinimum Education and Experience\r\nHigh school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) is required.\r\nEssential Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and Experience:\r\n\r\nExperience with fiber optic assembly, polishing, and termination processes preferred\r\nExperience working in a technical manufacturing or high-reliability production environment preferred\r\nFamiliarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality systems preferred\r\nStrong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and defect recognition skills\r\nAbility to read and interpret technical documentation and follow detailed work instructions\r\nAbility to use small hand tools and precision assembly equipment effectively\r\n\r\nWorking Conditions: While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and must be reasonably ambulatory. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. This job requires vision sufficient for completing quality work, reading comprehension and computer use. This work also requires hearing sufficient for normal workplace conversation and training. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles.
