Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.Job Title: Orientation & Mobility Specialist (O&M) – School-BasedLocation: Denver Area Job Type: Contract (2026–2027 School Year)Schedule: Hours TBD (Full-Time or Part-Time opportunities possible)Contract Dates: August 6, 2026 – May 26, 2027Job Overview:A school district in Aurora, CO is actively interviewing Orientation & Mobility Specialists (O&M) for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. This is a great opportunity to join a supportive district in the Denver area, working with students who are visually impaired to help them develop independence and safe navigation skills.Details regarding caseloads, campus assignments, and scheduling are still being finalized as the district works through internal placements. We anticipate 3–4 openings, with flexibility for both full-time and part-time candidates.Key Responsibilities:Provide orientation and mobility instruction to students with visual impairments across assigned campusesAssess students' mobility, orientation, and travel skills in school and community environmentsDevelop and implement individualized mobility plans aligned with IEP goalsTeach safe travel techniques, including use of assistive devices and environmental awarenessCollaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providersParticipate in IEP meetings and provide progress updatesMaintain accurate documentation, service logs, and evaluation reportsSupport students in developing independence in school and community settingsCaseload & Assignment Details:Caseloads and school assignments will varyAge groups and number of campuses assigned will be determined based on district needsPositions are being filled as direct-hire placements are finalizedQualifications & Requirements:Active Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services LicenseMust include Orientation & Mobility Specialist EndorsementPrevious school-based experience preferredStrong communication, organization, and collaboration skillsCompensation & Benefits$51-$63 an hourHealth InsuranceDental Insurance401KAdditional Information:Candidates must complete district required background check and fingerprintingCredentialing is time sensitive.
