Production OperatorThe Production Operator is responsible to effectively operate the equipment to which they are assigned, safely and efficiently. They must use any provided equipment, tooling, and measuring devices to ensure a quality product is produced. They must demonstrate the ability to take directions from the immediate manager and designated management representatives.Specific duties include:Start up and shut down equipment in a safe manner, report issues to immediate manager.Read and understand the work instructions and engineering drawings/prints required for the assigned job.Use measuring devices required to ensure a quality product is being produced.Meet production rate requirements set by Engineering/APU.Accurately label parts with any required markings.Sand, deburr, file, polish and perform other functions by hand as required to produce a quality finished product.Perform 100% visual inspections on all parts processed.Report defective parts as scrap and report excessive scrap issues to immediate manager.Maintain machine maintenance levels to ensure machine operations such as filling lube oil, hydraulic oil, and/or coolant levels.Handle basic tool changes.Ability to use or learn to use a computer to look up documents, request assistance from other departments and managers, and enter production information.Ability to accurately complete the paperwork requirements for each operation.Responsible for training new employees as requested by immediate manager.Must keep work area clean, neat, and orderly. Perform general housekeeping functions daily as required to maintain a safe and clean work environment.Communicate professionally with everyone in the plant.Follow instructions from the Shift Leader, APU Manager, or Production Manager.Work overtime as required.Fill in or cross train in other departments as assigned.Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries.Participate in developing and updating risk assessments and review all applicable risk assessments annually.Qualifications:Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.Ability to read and understand manufacturing work instructions and drawings is preferred.Ability to use measurement devices is required.Basic math skills are required.Good communication skills are required.Ability to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis, multiple times an hour.Must be able to work in a non-air-conditioned environment for a minimum of eight hours per day.Physical Demands:The employee frequently is required to stand; walk, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. A large degree of lifting (moderate to heavyweight), bending, squatting, and maneuvering.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, for viewing a computer terminal distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception vision for moving objects and ability to adjust focus.The ability to work with chemicals in the proper environment and while wearing PPE.Personal Protective Equipment:Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higherSteel Toe Safety Shoes conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910Hearing protection conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910The ability to wear a full or half face respirator conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 39 CFR 1910.134Additional PPE may be required depending on the departmentHutchinson Industries, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
