The ideal candidate would be well-versed in Microsoft SQL Server management, to include installation, tuning, monitoring, query optimization, clustering, migrations, and backups. The position requires someone with an engineering and programmatic execution background who possesses the polish and business acumen to be client facing and work as part of a team. Knowledge of other database systems, such as Oracle, is a plus but not required.\nSome of the job duties will include:\n\nStandard administration and maintenance of MS SQL instances in a WSFC environment at a mid/senior level\nProvide expertise and guidance to the team as they manage customer MS SQL databases\nImplement security procedures and tools\nMaintain proper security posture of all relevant data related to daily duties\nMonitor and tune existing databases\nSupport system architecture design and implementation efforts for existing and new deployments\nManage accounts and network rights\nManage systems resources, including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and disaster recovery\nDevelop and document systems administration standard operating procedures\nEstablish and improve on performance metrics\nResolve significant hardware/software interface and interoperability issues\nMaintain systems configuration in a sustainable manner\nEnsure the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices\nInteract with customers wishing to utilize the database cluster environment(s)\nBrief government sponsors daily on progress\nEducation and Certificates\nBachelor's degree in Information Systems or relevant work experience of at least 8 years\nDoD 8570 IAT Level II Compliance (Security+, CASP, or CISSP, Microsoft Certifications)\nA vendor/platform-specific certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate)\nClearance\nActive Secret clearance required\nCareer Experience\nMinimum of eight (8) years of hands-on experience with MS SQL administration.\nMinimum of eight (8) years of hands-on experience with Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019 in support of managing databases. Previous Windows Server 2019 experience is preferred but not required.\nExperience managing clusters of database servers in an enterprise environment.\nUnderstand essential network services such as DNS, SMTP, NTP, and IP tables.\nUnderstanding of the requirements for day-to-day support operations maintaining databases\nExperience with user account management and associated DoD security practices.\nExperience in a virtual environment such as VMWare or AWS GovCloud.\nMinimum of 3 years Federal experience, preferably DoD.
