The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical leader, responsible for leading a team of DevOps and Security engineers to prioritize, schedule, and implement DevOps & Security tasks. This role requires you to be opinionated in the direction that DevOps & Security practices are going, make practical recommendations, and take the initiative for the long-term health of the infrastructure and security posture.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nBuild and operate our AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes/EKS clusters, GitOps pipelines (ArgoCD/Helm), and CI/CD (TeamCity)\nWrite and own infrastructure-as-code across both Terraform and AWS CDK, setting reusable, well-tested, peer-reviewed patterns.\nBuild and enhance our security posture, including topics such as: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, vulnerability and patch management, dependency/supply-chain (SCA) and code (SAST/DAST) scanning, and shifting security left into the developer workflow.\nAnalyze performance and other observability metrics using tools like Datadog to assess the health of our infrastructure, spot regressions and bottlenecks, and drive improvements.\nLead a team of DevOps and Security engineers to prioritize, schedule, and implement DevOps & Security-related tasks.\nHelp lead the overall technical vision and strategy for all things DevOps & Security.\nDiscuss with and educate other team members in DevOps methodology, design, and best practices.\nWhat You’ll Bring:\nWelcoming and collaborative, eager to both learn from and teach fellow engineers while working across diverse time zones and locations.\nThrive in a remote environment, enjoying the dynamic interaction and knowledge sharing with a globally distributed team.\nComfortable in an agile, fast-paced startup environment.\nEducation & Experience:\nDegree in Computer Science or a related field.\nHands-on experienced DevOps engineer with at least 5 years of experience as an individual contributor and at least 2 years of experience as a team lead\nIn-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration.\nIn-depth knowledge of AWS and cloud networking.\nDemonstrated hands-on security experience: IAM/least-privilege, secrets management, vulnerability management, and security scanning (SAST/DAST/SCA).\nSignificant experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC).\nExperienced with performance monitoring tools such as Datadog and have a strong understanding of infrastructure and application performance metrics.\nExperience with the Java programming language.\nExperience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) is nice to have.\nHow We Work: Our Operating Principles\nOur Operating Principles are the blueprint of Real’s culture.
