Depending on the assignment these duties may require in-person attendance and/or virtual attendance based on the specific operational or instructional requirements of the assignment.\n\nProvide instruction and course/program management at the high school level in areas of residential and commercial construction related to National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification.\n\nDemonstrate knowledge and implement a \"hands-on\" approach to critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed for current and future construction industry employment standards.\n\nProvide instruction in teamwork, communications, problem solving, decision making and computer technology which relates to workplace and higher education skills needed in the construction industry.\n\nWork with staff and post-secondary institutions to develop and maintain career pathways which prepare students for apprenticeship, licensure, community college or university degree programs in the construction trades areas.\n\nPrepare instructional materials, maintain equipment, and manage materials of instruction which maximize the resources needed to deliver effectively a diverse instructional program.\n\nObtain NCCER program certification including documentation and verification of students' skills to NCCER curriculum content standards.\n\nDemonstrate an understanding of and lead student experiences in related student organizations.\n\nContribute to the mission of the school by striving to attain a school improvement plan and career completion goals.\n\nWork with employers and community groups to promote and advance technical skills.\n\nParticipate in recruitment and selection of students.\n\nCreates an instructional environment that is conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.\n\nCommunicates standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and parents. Meets with students and parents.\n\nMaintains complete and accurate student academic, attendance, and disciplinary records. Monitors and assesses students' academic progress.\n\nCollaborates with school administrators, other teachers, paraeducators, parents, and community members in the education of students.\n\nAttends staff meetings. Serves on various committees.\n\nPerforms other work-related duties as assigned.\n\nSALARY\n\n$42.13 per hour, non-benefitted\n\nREQUIREMENTS\n\nHold or be eligible for a Maryland Educator Certificate in appropriate requisite area.\n\nPossession of NCCER instructor certification in carpentry.\n\nCompleted three years of industry-related work experience for state and NCCER certification in carpentry.\n\nClassroom teaching experience is preferred.\n\nExperience in one or more of the major areas of construction with an emphasis on carpentry skill sets.\n\nKnowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy. Knowledge of curriculum, effective instructional techniques, instructional materials and equipment.\n\nSkill in preparing, implementing lesson plans and instructing students. Skill in supervising students and managing behavior. Skill in communicating with students, their parents, administrators, and others. Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications.\n\nAbility to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents and staff.\n\nAbility to effectively maintain confidential information.\n\nPHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:\n\nWork requires the ability to bend, stand, and walk in the carpentry laboratory for extended periods of time on a daily basis.\n\nHOW TO APPLY\n\nEmployment applications are accepted online only .
