The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience working as a Shipfitter in a New Construction Shipyard, Have experience using a torch, experience working with Steel and be able to pass a hands on assessment. This position is long-term/permanent - NOT a short-term contract.\nDuties\nRead and interpret blueprints: Understand technical drawings, sketches, and specifications to determine the layout and requirements for ship components.\nPerform layout and fabrication: Lay out, mark, and fabricate metal structural parts such as plates, bulkheads, and frames according to project specifications.\nFit and assemble components: Accurately fit, align, and assemble prefabricated parts and structural components using various tools and techniques.\nCut materials: Cut materials, often using a torch, to the correct size and shape for assembly.\nAlign and secure parts: Align and secure parts and assemblies using welding, bolting, and other fastening methods.\nInspect work: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets engineering drawings, quality standards, and specifications.\nCollaborate with other trades: Work closely with welders, pipefitters, and other trades to ensure timely and efficient project completion.\nFollow safety protocols: Adhere to all company and OSHA safety policies and procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment.\nRequirements\n4+ years of experience working as a steel shipfitter in a shipyard.\nExperience using a torch\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints\nBe able to provide your own basic tools\nHave reliable transportation to get to work everyday\nMust be able to pass a 7 year criminal history background check\nMust be able to pass a 10 panel drug screen\nMust be able to commute to or relocate to the Mobile, AL area prior to starting work (Per Diem offered to those who qualify - see \"Employment Details below\")\nMust be able to provide proof of citizenship/ work authorization (See \"Employment Details\" below for a list or required documents)\nMust be located in the US and be eligible/authorized to work in the US WITHOUT visa sponsorship\nEmployment Details:\nCompensation: $37/hr\nWork Schedule: 4/10s required, 20 hours of volunteer overtime available most every week\nOvertime: $55.50/OThr\nPer Diem: $150/per Day for each day WORKED - Per Diem is offered to those who are located 100+miles from the job location. Documentation of address must be provided to qualify.\nOverview of potential weekly income:\n> If you qualify for per diem and work only the 4/10s, 40hr work week, your weekly income would be: $37/hrX40hrs=$1,480+$150/day(4 days worked)= $2,080/week\n> If you qualify for per diem AND work the Max amount of volunteer per diem working the 4/10s straight time+ 2/10s of volunteer OT, your weekly income would be: $37/hrX40hrs=$1,480 + $55.50/OThrX20hrs=$2,590+$150/day(6 days worked)=$3,490/week\nThis facility performs on government contracts for the US Navy.
