Our mission is to simplify government workflows. We work with public agencies across the country and provide them with constituent-communication and service delivery software that strengthens governments' ability to support constituents as they apply for and receive services.\nActa's software-as-a-service solution enhances communications workflows within public agencies via AI-enabled tools to develop an internal knowledge-base, auto-compose responses, retrieve geography-specific regulatory information, and streamline coordination between local government staff. We sell to public agencies in 10 states who serve over 8M constituents daily. Our team is tight-knit, agile, and growing rapidly.\nThe Role\nThe Software Engineer is an individual-contributor role for an engineer ready to own major features end-to-end and shape the direction of our product and systems. You’ll also play a role in determining scope—estimating accurately, managing requirement changes, articulating tradeoffs to stakeholders, and keeping the team informed as velocity shifts.\nIf you want a role where your technical decisions carry weight, where you're trusted to own hard problems across the full stack, and where your work visibly improves how millions of people access public services, we'd love to meet you.\nWhat You’ll Do\nOwn major feature development end-to-end, from design through production\nOwn scope management on tickets, requirements, and mid-flight changes\nWeigh tradeoffs across design approaches and develop timely design options for features of varying size\nLead development and decision-making on system-critical engineering\nDeliver well-reasoned pull requests that require little senior review, with sound decisions throughout\nProvide rigorous input and feedback to other team members through code reviews\nAccurately estimate scope on new work, articulate scope tradeoffs to stakeholders, and keep the team updated on changes to velocity\nProvide significant input on system-level improvements and technical direction\nHow We Work\nWe're serious about modern engineering practice. AI-assisted development is part of our daily workflow, and we expect strong engineers to use these tools well.\nMust Have Skills and Experience\n3+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software\nStrong problem solving abilities and sound engineering judgment\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including with non-technical stakeholders\nAbility to disambiguate requirements from informal or incomplete stakeholder input into clear, well-scoped requirements\nAbility to own features end-to-end with minimal oversight\nDemonstrated experience estimating scope and managing tradeoffs on real projects\nProficiency with TypeScript and/or JavaScript\nExperience across both front-end and back-end development\nNice to Have Background and Skills\nAngular\nNode.js\nMongoDB\nAWS or similar cloud technologies\nExperience in a startup or small-team environment\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, etc.)\nPrior experience in regulated industries serving enterprise/government customers\nTop Characteristics of a Successful Software Engineer at Acta\nStrong, well-calibrated technical judgment\nOwnership mentality—sees problems through without being asked\nWillingness to give and receive feedback\nPassion for delivering value to customers and seeing your features in use\nComfort operating with autonomy in a small, fast-moving team\nPerks and Benefits\nUnique opportunity to work in a startup environment where you will report directly to the CTO\nReal ownership over system-critical engineering and technical direction\nOpportunity to engage in conversations around broader product vision\nTeam-oriented culture\nCasual dress all-day, everyday\nRegular team outings and celebrations\nMission-driven organization working to improve local government\n$95,000-$110,000 annual salary depending on experience\nFull benefits package — medical, dental, vision, 401k\nJob Type: Full-time\nPay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year\nBenefits:\n401(k)\nDental insurance\nHealth insurance\nPaid parental leave\nProfessional development assistance\nUnlimited paid time off\nVision insurance\nWork Location: Hybrid remote in Raleigh, NC 27603","company":"Acta Solutions","rawCompany":"acta solutions","city":"Raleigh","state":"NC","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-08-03T18:57:14.661Z","occupations":[{"code":"15-1252.00","title":"Software Developers","slug":"software-developers"},{"code":"15-1299.08","title":"Computer Systems Engineers/Architects","slug":"computer-systems-engineers-architects"},{"code":"15-1253.00","title":"Software Quality Assurance Analysts and Testers","slug":"software-quality-assurance-analysts-and-testers"}],"industries":[{"code":"541511","title":"Custom Computer Programming Services","slug":"custom-computer-programming-services"},{"code":"513210","title":"Software Publishers","slug":"software-publishers"},{"code":"541512","title":"Computer Systems Design Services","slug":"computer-systems-design-services"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Software Engineer","description":"Software Engineer (3+ Years Experience)\nFull-time | Hybrid Role (3 days in-person per week) based in Durham & Raleigh, NC\nCompany Background\nActa Solutions is a rapidly growing GovTech startup powering better customer service for governments.
