Event Production Manager
Overview:
As an Event Production Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and successful execution of all events held at our venue. You will be responsible for leading and scheduling the production staff, coordinating with touring crews, managing event logistics, and providing exceptional service to artists and performers. You must have a strong background in live show production, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality events.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the technical crew and production team to set up and strike stage equipment, props, lighting, and sound systems.
Ensure everyone backstage has proper access credentials and consult with Security to enforce.
Coordinate and advance all events with both tour and local staff, ensuring that all technical requirements and production needs are met.
Assist with the assembly, disassembly, and movement of stage sets and scenic elements.
Safely operate and maintain technical equipment, including lighting fixtures, audio systems, and rigging tools.
Ensure the timely and precise execution of cues and technical transitions during performances.
Ability to communicate construction criticism to production staff in an effort to improve overall efficiency.
Assist performers and artists with backstage logistics, such as costume changes and prop management (if applicable).
Oversee and coordinate load-ins and load-outs for events, ensuring efficient use of time and resources.
Oversee and schedule production employees, including sound technicians, lighting technicians, stagehands, loaders, and runners.
Provide clear direction, guidance, and support to the production team, ensuring smooth operations and efficient execution of events.
Manage and schedule a team of in-house stagehands; delegating pre-determined assignments and/or departments.
Communicate and enforce the dress code of production staff.
Support the production team in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe backstage and stage area.
Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on equipment as needed.
Follow all OSHA safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a secure working environment.
Communicate effectively with the production team to address any technical issues or changes.
Assist in coordinating the movement of scenery and props during performances.
Uphold the artistic vision of the production while contributing to its smooth operation.
Skills:
Previous experience in stagehand work or technical theater is required.
Basic understanding of stagecraft, lighting, sound, and rigging techniques.
Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions within a fast-paced, live performance environment.
Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy equipment and objects.
Willingness to work irregular or long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on production schedules.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Safety-conscious mindset and a commitment to maintaining a hazard-free work environment.
A passion for live performances and a desire to contribute to the creative process.
OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 a plus.
