We are in search of a highly motivated candidate to join our talented Team.\r\nJob Title: Database Engineer III – PostgreSQL.\r\nLocation: Washington, DC.\r\nThe Overall Purpose of Position\r\nThe purpose of this position is to perform and manage tasks related to the operation, support, administration, optimization, and maintenance of USAC owned databases and database tools.\r\nScope of Work\r\nInstall, configure, patch, and upgrade database software PostgreSQL.\r\nProduce detailed technical architecture designs for PostgreSQL solutions.\r\nSupport of production and non-production PostgreSQL databases.\r\nSupport of production and non-production databases:\r\nCorrect issues reported in production system.\r\nSupport routine and ad-hoc IT DBA requests.\r\nUpdate documentation, if required as part of correcting production issues.\r\nImplement and monitor daily and nightly database maintenance jobs.\r\nMonitor, diagnose, and respond to system failure and performance issues, taking appropriate measures to reduce system downtime and eliminate recurrence of the problem.\r\nWork with technical staff, including network engineers and software developers, to analyze and improve system performance.\r\nFormulate and implement backup and monthly maintenance procedures for PostgreSQL Production clusters.\r\nServe as technical support for any database related performance or access issue.\r\nGenerate ad-hoc and routine reports and define metrics for database health and performance.\r\nAdminister, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of company databases.\r\nLeading the team in providing technical support for any database-related performance or access issue\r\nPerform or affect the performance of all database installations, patches, and planned upgrades.\r\nImplement data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes.\r\nResolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other database issues.\r\nPerform database related development as dictated by departmental or project demands.\r\nDesign and perform data migrations and data transformations as required by application delivery teams or business customers.\r\nDevelop and maintain documentation, diagrams, and procedures and comply with company's change management control process.\r\nEnsure that all database designs adhere to industry best practices.\r\nWork with application delivery teams during database design.\r\nPossess substantial knowledge about application and database performance profiles of all databases under their management.\r\nRepresent the IT department in terms of database expertise in coordination with other departments.\r\nQualification and Experience\r\nExperience\r\nExperience with PostgreSQL database Administration, 8 Years required.\r\nProduction support experience on (PostgreSQL), 8 Years required.\r\nExperience with Puppet deployment tool, 3 Years required.\r\nGood understanding of Monitoring Tools such as PEM and TOAD, 4 Years required.\r\nExpert level of PostgreSQL knowledge and experience with PostgreSQL 9.5 5, Years required.\r\nExperience with database characteristics such as table design, relationships, data partition, efficient indexes, storage allocation, Capacity planning, etc., 7 Years required.\r\nHigh Availability Solutions (Master-Master, Master-Slave) and sharing, 5 Years required.\r\nExperience in performance tuning and load testing of databases, 7 Years required.\r\nKnowledge of NoSQL database security concepts, 5 Years required.\r\nExperience in supporting PostgreSQL databases in Cloud (Google, AWS, etc.), 3 Years required.\r\nLinux/Unix platforms and Linux Shell scripting, 5 Years required.\r\nDisplay strong ability in troubleshooting complex issues, 5 Years required.\r\nExperience with high availability database and application architectures, 3 Years required.\r\nNOTE\r\nEDB PostgreSQL Certification.\r\nYou have experience with NoSQL databases, such as Couchbase, MongoDB etc.\r\nExperience with agile software development such as SCRUM and XP.\r\nSpecial Skills\r\nAnalytical and problem-solving skills.\r\nDeveloping and/or creating new or more effective ideas, approaches, etc.\r\nDeveloping and executing short-range plans/decisions.\r\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.\r\nAbility to exercise sound judgment across a broad range of circumstances.\r\nAmpcus is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
