In this role, you'll design and develop data-driven, customer-facing features and backend services that power real-time personalization, campaign delivery, and transaction support. Our stack is Ruby on Rails on the backend and Vue.js on the frontend — and we value engineers who lead with strong product instincts, deep technical judgment, and a pragmatic mindset.\n\nThis is a great opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys owning features end-to-end, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners, and mentoring less-experienced teammates, with room to grow into broader technical leadership. We believe the best engineers today are fluent in AI — comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and thoughtful about how AI capabilities can be woven into product features and platform experiences.\n\nThis is a hybrid role based out of our Broomfield, Colorado office.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nFull-Stack Development: Design and build robust, secure, and scalable systems across our Ruby on Rails and Vue.js stack, with ownership from API design and data modeling through to rich front-end experiences.\nTechnical Contribution: Contribute to architecture and design discussions for key platform initiatives, and help establish and follow sound engineering patterns.\nMentorship: Support the growth of junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and pairing.\nPerformance & Quality: Identify and drive improvements to backend and frontend performance, and help raise the bar for code quality, testing, security, and observability.\nCross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Design, and Customer Success to translate business problems into sound technical solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.\nAI-Augmented Development: Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery, and contribute ideas on where AI capabilities can add genuine value to the product.\nAgile Delivery: Work effectively in an iterative, fast-paced environment — shipping frequently and adapting quickly.\nIncident Response: Participate in resolving production incidents and contribute to post-incident reviews that prevent recurrence.\n\nRequirements\n\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with meaningful full-stack scope.\nSolid experience with Ruby on Rails, including ActiveRecord, background job processing, API design, and service-oriented patterns.\nStrong Javascript proficiency, including SPA architecture, component design, state management, and front-end performance.\nTrack record of owning and delivering complex features or projects end-to-end.\nStrong RESTful API design experience, including versioning, authentication, and third-party integrations.\nSolid database fundamentals, particularly MySQL or similar relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.\nAbility to participate in technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.\nExperience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers and contributing to a culture of technical excellence.\nFamiliarity with marketing or customer engagement platforms — campaign management, personalization engines, A/B testing, or equivalent — is a plus.\nGood communication skills: able to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nExperience with agile development methodologies and working within cross-functional product teams.\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and interest in evaluating where AI/ML capabilities can be integrated into product features.\n\nBonus Points For\n\nExperience with Go (Golang), Vue.js, and/or Node.js.\nExperience integrating LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) or building AI-powered product features.\nFamiliarity with AI/ML concepts such as embeddings, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or fine-tuning.\nAWS experience, including deploying and scaling cloud-based applications.\nHands-on experience with OpenSearch for search or analytics.\nUse of Redis for caching, session management, or background jobs.\nExposure to Kafka or similar messaging systems in high-throughput environments.\nFamiliarity with Docker for local development or production deployment.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.\nExposure to GDPR, CCPA, or similar data privacy regulations.\nBackground in B2B SaaS products or high-volume transaction systems.\n\nBenefits\n\nAs a full-time employee, Recurly offers competitive benefits programs, perks and options designed to fit your needs and the needs of your family.
