Senior DevOps Engineer
About the RoleA growing technology-driven organization is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to own and advance critical infrastructure initiatives. This includes building out observability practices, maturing CI/CD capabilities, and leading a large-scale migration of on-premises systems to AWS. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer and collaborative leader who can drive standards, partner across teams, and deliver reliable, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure.Essential FunctionsEstablish and own observability practices, including metrics, logging, alerting, and on-call runbooksPartner with engineering teams to define infrastructure-as-code standards and contribute to architectural decisionsMentor and guide junior engineers on platform and infrastructure best practicesDesign, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or similarBuild and operate the data infrastructure layer, including pipeline tooling, storage systems, and orchestration platformsLead end-to-end migration of on-premises workloads to AWS, including scoping, planning, sequencing, and execution with minimal production disruptionDefine and manage migration runbooks, cutover plans, and rollback proceduresInventory existing on-premises infrastructure and map dependencies to inform migration sequencing and risk assessmentExecute or support lift-and-shift migrations using AWS migration tools such as Application Migration Service (MGN), Database Migration Service (DMS), or equivalentProactively manage cost optimization across cloud and physical infrastructureParticipate in mid- and long-term capital planning initiativesRequired Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in a related field5–7+ years of relevant work experienceExperience supporting or leading on-premises to AWS migrationsFamiliarity with AWS migration tools such as MGN and DMS or comparable technologiesHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern infrastructure toolingSolid understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles and cloud architecture best practicesPreferred QualificationsExperience with observability tools and practices (monitoring, logging, alerting frameworks)Familiarity with data infrastructure platforms and orchestration toolsAbility to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and leadership teamsExperience mentoring or supporting junior team membersWhat Success Looks LikeReliable, scalable infrastructure with clear observability and alerting in placeSmooth, low-disruption migration of on-premises systems to AWSWell-defined standards and processes adopted consistently across engineering teamsCost-efficient infrastructure aligned with broader business objectivesCore CompetenciesStrong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail in a fast-paced environmentAbility to build and maintain effective working relationships across diverse teamsClear, concise, and tactful communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersStrong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make objective decisionsAbility to translate technical requirements into actionable tasksProactive approach with a focus on anticipating issues and improving processesCommitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies and best practices
