We are seeking a motivated and achievement-oriented individual to take ownership of the structural design on projects and be accountable for the delivery of the project structural team.\n\nThe Structural Engineering role will take on more complex tasks in structural drawings and specifications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements. It will conduct structural analysis and design for various building components, utilizing software tools and engineering principles. It will include performing thorough investigations of existing conditions and preparing detailed reports with recommendations. The role will actively engage in cross-discipline coordination meetings to resolve design conflicts and ensure cohesive project delivery.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nPerform structural analysis and design of concrete, steel, and masonry structures.\n\nConduct existing conditions investigation and prepare associated reports.\n\nPrepare structural drawings and structural specifications in compliance with building codes.\n\nEngage in cross-discipline coordination with different teams for project execution.\n\nProvide construction phase support including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, etc.\n\nFlexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.\n\nMay provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge‑sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.\n\nSkills and Competencies\n\nIntermediate proficiency in structural analysis, design and detailing of concrete, steel and masonry.\n\nPossess a working knowledge of the latest building codes and regulations, including: ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC 360, IBC, and ASCE 7.\n\nCapability to investigate existing conditions and prepare precise reports.\n\nProficient in the use of structural analysis and design software (RISA or STAAD).\n\nPossess a basic understanding of water treatment processes.\n\nExperience\n\nTypically, a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in structural engineering or a related field.\n\nExperience in structural design and understanding construction processes in detail.\n\nProven track record of dealing with shop drawings and responding to RFIs in a construction setting.\n\nHas passed or is working towards passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam required for Engineer in Training registration.\n\nTypically will become certified in BC's Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) Framework and progress through the SMS competencies.\n\nPreferred Experience\n\n5+ years of relevant experience in structural engineering or a related field.\n\nKnowledge of concrete, steel, masonry and wood structural design per IBC and referenced standards.\n\nKnowledge in seismic design of structures using various code analysis procedures.\n\nExperience with plants, ports and heavy civil/structural projects.\n\nExperience with ASCE 41.\n\nStructural design experience with wastewater treatment plant or industrial facilities preferred; commercial design experience is a plus.\n\nPE license or actively working towards same.\n\nEducation\n\nA bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a focus on structural engineering or equivalent relevant experience is required.\n\nPreferred Education\n\nA master’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural coursework emphasis).\n\nSalary Range\nLocation A: $78,000 - $106,000\nLocation B: $85,000 - $116,000\nLocation C: $93,000 - $127,000\n\nBenefits and Other Compensation\nWe provide a comprehensive benefits package that promotes employee health, performance, and success.
