Harris & Associates and PGH Wong are the joint-venture team working for the California High Speed Rail Authority to deliver the first 29-mile segment of this historic project—which has become a model for success across the United States.\n\nPosition Summary\nThe Field Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Construction Manager, on-site, in seeing that the project is constructed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.\n\nResponsibilities include but are not limited to the following:\nProvide photographic records.\nBe able to read and understand architectural, structural, and civil drawings\nBe able to redline drawings and pictures using adobe acrobat\nTrack completed work; and assist in reviewing contractor’s progress payments\nProvide field support services for submittals, RFIs, and requests for contract change orders.\nNotify the resident engineer of any observed non-conformances and assist in the issuance of non-conformance reports as required.\nParticipate in and/or conduct planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling and field staff meetings.\nReview plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, constructability reviews and contract closeout records.\nAssist in detecting and resolving disputes and/or problems\nRespond to complaints from the public\nEnsure that all required tests, operations, measurements, and inspections are scheduled, ordered, staff working on progress payments by verifying and preparing quantity and progress estimates.\nMaintain records on unit price quantities, labor, equipment and progress for change order work.\nReview change orders for implementation.\nMake field measurements and maintain as-built drawing records.\nConduct and/or witness testing of contract material, equipment, and installations.\nReport safety and traffic hazards, defective work and debris to the contractor for correction.\nQualifications and Experience\nMinimum 7 years of relevant work experience\n5+ years of verifiable full-time experience in construction inspection work, including two years of experience as a construction inspector working in an urban environment.\nFamiliarity with transit industry standards, practices, and regulations is helpful.\nValid driver's license with satisfactory driving record\nSkills and Competencies:\nPotential to perform in a lead capacity.\nExcellent written and oral communication skills.\nMust be proficient in the use of Excel and MSWord.\nAbility to work in a cooperative team environment.\nCompensation & Benefits\nSalary $120K-$170K B.O.E\nWe offer competitive salaries and benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
