You’ll work across Windows and Linux servers, virtualization, networking, backups, security, monitoring, automation, and other critical infrastructure.\n\nThis role is a good fit for someone who has built a strong foundation in systems administration and is ready to take on greater ownership of infrastructure, projects, troubleshooting, and client environments.\n\nYou’ll work alongside experienced engineers and administrators while also serving as an escalation resource and helping less-experienced team members develop their technical skills.\n\n*What You’ll Do*\n\n* Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux server environments.\n* Deploy and manage physical and virtual server infrastructure.\n* Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, applications, and system management tools.\n* Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware and similar technologies.\n* Monitor systems and infrastructure for availability, performance, capacity, and security.\n* Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, application, network, and infrastructure issues.\n* Perform system patching, upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and routine maintenance.\n* Manage and test backup, disaster recovery, redundancy, and failover processes.\n* Monitor system and event logs and respond to actionable alerts.\n* Assist with network troubleshooting, configuration, and infrastructure deployments.\n* Identify system performance issues and implement or recommend appropriate solutions.\n* Assist with capacity planning across compute, storage, network, and infrastructure resources.\n* Support database environments when needed, including availability, performance, access, backup, and data integrity.\n* Develop and maintain scripts and automation that improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability.\n* Maintain accurate technical documentation and customer-specific knowledge base/wiki articles.\n* Follow established security policies, technical controls, and applicable compliance requirements.\n* Coordinate with technology vendors and service providers as needed.\n* Provide escalated technical support to clients and internal team members.\n* Assist with client deployments, migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and technical projects.\n* Share technical knowledge and provide guidance to other members of the Systems Administration team.\n* Participate in the team’s on-call rotation.\n\n*What We’re Looking For*\n\n* 2+ years of professional experience in systems administration, infrastructure, managed IT, or a similar technical role.\n* Hands-on experience administering Windows and/or Linux server environments.\n* Working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware or equivalent platforms.\n* Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, protocols, hardware, and troubleshooting.\n* Experience working with server hardware, storage, backup, and disaster recovery technologies.\n* Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and infrastructure security best practices.\n* Experience with scripting, automation, or infrastructure management tools.\n* Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work through technical problems independently.\n* Ability to manage multiple systems, clients, projects, and priorities.\n* Strong written and verbal communication skills.\n* Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical clients.\n* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a technical team.\n* A willingness to learn new technologies and take ownership of unfamiliar technical challenges.\n\n*Nice to Have*\n\nThese aren’t requirements, but experience in any of the following is a plus:\n\n* MSP, data center, cloud provider, ISP, or other multi-client technology environment.\n* VMware or other enterprise virtualization platforms.\n* Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, or related Microsoft technologies.\n* Firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and general network administration.\n* Backup, replication, and disaster recovery platforms.\n* Cloud infrastructure such as Azure, AWS, or similar platforms.\n* Database administration or database infrastructure.\n* Monitoring and infrastructure management platforms.\n* Cybersecurity tools, endpoint protection, vulnerability management, or security monitoring.\n* Highly available or mission-critical infrastructure.\n* Security or compliance-driven environments.\n* PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting/automation technologies.\n* Relevant Microsoft, Linux, VMware, networking, cloud, or cybersecurity certifications.\n\nA bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred but *not required*. Relevant professional experience and demonstrated technical ability are equally important.\n\n*Schedule & On-Call*\n\nThis is primarily an *in-office position* with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.\n\nThis position participates in the technical team’s on-call rotation, typically covering approximately two weeks per month.
